New R-Type game? Hell yeah!
I liked Gears 5 and I appreciate that the developers tried some new things, but the original formula of Gears is still there and imo it's tired.
Gears 5 is really not that great and this is coming from a Gears vet. I finished it quickly and already forgot it. It tries new things, sure but it's still mostly duck and cover, shoot and fight waves and waves of enemies over and over again like the last gears games. Gears 5 is being over hyped.

Yes, that's a good point of the AI getting in the way. I'm about to fire a boomshot and Del will walk in front of me and I get downed and then he ignores me. This happened a few times and I'd yell expletives at the screen.

Gears 5 assumes too much from the player. For example a character will tell you to do something, but they won't tell you where to go or where the object is. So you wander around looking for where you have to go to trigger the next event. This sort of thing happens a few times in the game and it can be frustrating.
Right now there's a tons of bugs I've encountered. From characters getting stuck to button icons not appearing to events not getting triggered. For example you reach the end of a mission and then characters just stand around and the next event doesn't occur. This is expected though when you play at launch. This will all get patched as time goes on.
Yeah, but they could be so much more but always hold themselves back with inferior hardware. If the Switch's hardware matched PS4 and Xbox One hardware, right now we would be getting an amazing port of Witcher III. Instead we're getting a downgraded inferior version. Yeah it's portable, but I don't wanna play a downgraded Witcher III even if it's mobile.
Good call. Yeah I haven't tried on other settings. The default setting is on beginner. I'll try the harder mode.
Yeah me too. Escape is a cool idea for a new multiplayer mode. I hope it's done in other games.

It doesn't reveal plot elements or anything, but anyway I warned you ahead of time,
Gears 5 opens with you playing the rest of Gears 4 that we never got. It ends the Gears 4 story line. Then something happens and the game changes and Gears 5 really begins. You'll know when it happens. The Coalition obviously wanted to set a new tone for this game.
The Escape mode is new for Gears 5 and a lot of fun.
The new mode called Escape in Gears 5 is a lot of fun! It kind of reminds me of Left4Dead because of the safe rooms. Everyone should try it! It takes around 12 minutes or so to get through. I commend the developers for trying new things.

Play Gears 5 for 2 dollars with two months of Ultimate Game Pass. That's a game changer. If MS hadn't done this I wouldn't have played Gears 5 till at least next year with a discount. I can't afford 60 dollar games. I'm 20 bucks person.
They keep showcasing that bald black character with the wrap around beard for Gears 5, but he's barely in the campaign if at all. I first saw him in the Escape mode.
