People crying about the NPD and "regional numbers" are hilarious. At least it's an actual reliable source. They don't cover the world with their process, deal with it. What does the rest of the world use, vgchartz?
I'm not trolling. Canned animations have always used less computing power than physics for example. The more gameplay systems you have the less you have for graphical power. If you choose to tell a story through a heavily scripted graphical narrative then you free up a lot of space from the mechanics side.
56k is pretty awful for an exclusive. I don't think that counts digital sales though, just box retail. It's also a "play anywhere" game meaning if you buy it digitally you get a free PC copy as well. That could have tilted the scales to make it look that shitty. I don't know though..
Nobody cares about reviews anymore. They don't have the influence they used to. They are a number thrown into a shit stew. We're at a point in technology where we can watch somebody play on twitch.
I don't need reviews personally. I prefer betas, demos, developer diaries and behind the scenes crap more. I always see people trashing game journalism only to turn around and treat metacritic as gospel. Metacritic is influential to costumers who are too lazy to look ...
They are both great games but it's not comparable. I agree, Lamb isn't as interesting as Ryan. She was a collectivist social engineer, she didn't produce shit besides a bunch of idiots. She was a cult leader not a real visionary. I couldn't sympathize with her Orwellian utopia like I could with the original premise of rapture. BS2 didn't have supporting enemies like steinman or cohen either. The writing was just better but I don't expect anyone to compete with Levine. ...

Edit: For those that disagree. Look up worldwide PS4 sales without counting the US. I can promise you that it's close. The americas are consumer fueled nations. It would take the rest of the world to even come close. China and Japan are the only close markets and they don't fuck with consoles. Asians are Mobile and PC.

It will look great on the PS4 standard just like uncharted 4. You free up a lot of resources when you replace gameplay with narrative.

You don't have to go that far back to see a time without cellphones. It's pretty crazy how far mobile has come in such a short time. Internet as well.
I think they did the best that they could do with what they had. How do you go into the same location with that same level of intrigue and make it interesting? They were at a disadvantage from the start and didn't have Levine. It's an excellent game considering. That's why Levine chose a new city for infinite.
