Unless you really suck yes they're opening up a lot of the game to SP. Underground and Challenge Modes will be solo able. So again unless you're bad you should be fine, they're unlocking a lot of the End game PvE to Soloplay.
Good, but the real question is how much AI do they have in Attrition?
They're running a hybrid variety of servers for this game so it means not purely Azure based which begs the question, How many Grunts are we going to see?

I own a Wii U/PS4/X1/High End Rig and I just enjoy the games on each platform. Try it sometime, maybe people won't see that you're totally full of it.

I'd like to point out the fact that the last entry that Epic made in Gears was Judgement, which while having a pretty good campaign totally butchered Horde mode and Versus.
343i focused more on building up the Forerunner saga, to be fair it's not for everyone. They're focusing more on the books and canon.
While Coalition is trying really hard to make old fans happy. They've succeeded by not making the same mistakes Epic did with Judgement....
