Pretty sure they confirmed Weapon Skins being useable in Gears 4 campaign. I mean if you really wanted you could grind a bit in Horde mode before jumping into the campaign and open a few packs try out a fancy weapon skin as you cruise through the campaign.
They've already confirmed all maps are free and they'll be following the Heroes of the Storm format of Map content.
As in they'll have rotations on the maps in each playlist.
Season Pass gets you access to all maps for LAN play and Developer playlists (New modes/Early Access).
The Microtransaction system seems to be following your standard Card pack system where you unlock Skins/Characters/Bonuses(XP)/E tc... for use across Campaign/H...

Sony had the MOVIE rights to Spiderman. For years Marvel had given the game rights to Activision until recently when Disney and Sony worked out a deal to reboot the Spiderman franchise under the Marvel brand while connecting it to the MCU. And until recently we didn't know of any money exchanged for this deal.

Yes exploration is apart of the game. You can just go around attacking other pirates or exploring islands for booty.
When asked if there was a single player experience the dev pointed that you could just have a small ship of you by yourself or a couple of lads and explore islands for treasure or even pillage others by using your speed.
Better question is why do people want games to reinvent the wheel?
