It currently has a Metacritic of 81. The highest score is 100 and the lowest is 50. I haven't been following CoD for a long time. Is that on par with the last couple of games?
I kind of miss when South Park was just about dumb stuff like alien anal probes, who was Cartman's mom and Kenny dying every week.

Modern: MW and MW 2
Futuristic: TF and TF2
Forgettable story mode? A lot of people have been touting it.

Who said it's history rewritten? Maybe it's giving recognition to those who weren't recognized before. I know I didn't know anything about the Harlem Hellfighters before Bf1. Also, they are only in the prologue and epilogue, so you could say it is reflected in the game.

@AnubisG: Or maybe they thought, "Hey, let's use this game to highlight many of the unsung heroes of World War I, like the Harlem Hellfighters, Bedouin women, the ANZACs, etc.
People are just quick say SJW or something along those lines.
Cool fact: The Germans had their own version of the Harlem Hellfighters. They were the Schutztruppe. They fought on the Eastern front, and like the HH, they never lost a battle.

Respawn is a partner studio, not a subsidiary of EA. Also, Respawn owns the IP.
I think EA was hoping Battlefield 1 could take boots on the ground wanting players and TF2 could take some of the futuristic wanting bunch from IW. It's the only reason I see them cannibalizing Respawn's game.

I think the writer is being a bit of a sunshine pumper. "Successful" multiplayer beta? I saw a lot of valid hate on youtube (valid meaning problems with the game, not just spewing hate). Not receive an overly poor response? 12 of the 35 reviews posted scored the game 75/100 or lower.
I think the numbers sold will still be high. But I don't think they'll be record breaking.
