This will be the "FREE Online Membership" they hype up on future Kinect boxes of 360's they try to sell to moms and dads this Chrsitmas. Nothing like deceitful advertising practices to fool the unaware people into thinking they are actually getting something.
I'm sure a good part of that is for the reason you gave. Bethesda even sucker punched the PS3 fanbase by waiting to announce the move only days before the game releases. I'm sure some people are picking up the PS3 copy unaware that they are being toyed with again. Honestly I put a cancel on my pre-order when I heard about it because of the way it was handled.

You can have all the money you want, but if you don't have the studios to make the games then how do they get made? All the studios MS has an association with are already working on whatever sequel they always work on, so unless you break the dev team up to get them working on multiple games Microsoft just has to buy timed DLC from 3rd parties and pass it off as having something unique. I would actually agree. The actual player control is like Rag Doll Kung-Fu meaning it's horrible at best. But while Rag Doll Kung-Fu was an entertaining party game, the idea of a competitive sports game controlling like this is a joke.
