Activision also 're-imagined' their map packs. And by 're-imagine', i mean they changed the lighting a bit and sold them for $15.
Rockstar doesn't care about how many people own a certain console, simply because they MAKE people buy consoles. Playstation 2 would be a fine example of their influence.

I personally hope they keep the gritty realism. I'm sure a lot of people want it to be over-the-top like San Andreas.
If GTA V were to launch for next-gen consoles, then it would be launched exclusively for the Wii U, which I highly doubt.
A 2012 release date is likely, and we haven't heard of any next gen PS or Xbox consoles, which generally are announced a a year or so before launch. With the list of upcoming current-gen games, I doubt we'll see next-gen consoles anytime soon.
I was really hoping for GTAV to come out for next-gen consoles. Well now I'm hoping next-gen consoles will have backwards compatibility :)
