And as all these games are releasing on PC too the next Xbox won't sell anywhere near the PS5's numbers.

Because we've been conditioned by years of mediocrity.

Nope. Games as a service are a plague on gaming that should be eradicated asap for both the good of the gamer and the developer in the long run.
It takes talented studios and makes them waste years developing boring, un-finished, grindy, repetitive loot shooters.
They take systems designed for mmos and mobile games and apply them to $60 games to try and extract microtransactions from us.
They breed and encourage lazy game design.
And the games are design...

Sorry, what were you asking?

Online loot shooters will eat themselves.
The greed of the developers and publishers creates grindy, boring, incomplete games packed full with microtransactions and consumers will soon become tired of these manipulative practices and stop playing them.

Hate? I would call it genuine criticisms from gamers that are tired of new games being designed solely as an ongoing service that you are encouraged to keep spending money on, rather than a complete game.

We need to take a stand now against these online loot shooters, they are deliberately designed to be unfinished and grindy.
They're a waste of talented game studios like Bungie and Bioware.

Mario games are fun and rewarding without asking you to grind or get your wallet out again.
Nintendo make well designed games, Anthem is not a well designed game.
And Mario games release as a full package, you're not waiting for them to finish the game or release content in a month or to.

Anthem sucks, online loot shooters in their design suck, Mario games don't suck.

Maybe you should go back a bit further in my comment history, you'll see that I've defended Xbox many times, I enjoyed Crackdown 3 and expressed that on here.
My main gaming platform this gen has been my Xbox One, most played games being Elite Dangerous and Cities Skylines.
Full transparency here are my gaming profiles - you'll see I've played a lot more games on the XB1.

But they could make more money long term with a good console and exclusive games only for that console so people actually buy it, then you've also got sales of controllers, headsets and other accessories.
Yes consoles are initially sold at a loss but a few years in when parts and production gets cheaper then they can start to make a profit on each console sold.
Also MS get money from every game sold on an Xbox console not just the ones they make and/or publish, they d...

Well I'm certainly not a Sony fanboy and I agree with Futureshark.
Xbox under Phil Spencer has nose dived, I'd take Mattrick back in a heartbeat.
It doesn't matter how many studios MS buys, if they're as poorly funded and badly managed as MS games have been this gen then it's just going to be poor quality GamePass filler games.
Besides not all these studios they bought are great - Compulsion Games that produced the utter sh* show that is We Happy...

Get lost Phil, you've ruined the Xbox brand, poorly funded, badly managed and too few exclusives that you can now get on a PC, what's the point of Xbox? MS should just do a Sega and publish their games on multiple formats, cause they don't give three sh*ts about improving their own one.
I've owned every Xbox, except the X and I won't be getting another, especially as we now have a good PC in the house.
Sorry Phil, your tactics have lost a loyal Xbox cust...

Let us not forget how MS tried to nickel and dime us at the start of the current gen with Forza 5 and it's economy based on microtransactions.
Wonder what they'll try this time, whatever it is it won't be pretty.

Ditch it and then get Bioware to make a Star Wars RPG or another Mass Effect.

Suppose there's the potential PC sales of Halo Infinite, though PC gamers have a lot more choice when it comes to quality first person shooters. And how well do Xbox games sell on the atrociously designed Windows Store? I believe Forza Horizon 4 had about 20% of its sales on PC, Gear 4 a bit lower, so we can expect Halo Infinite to sell around 2 million on PC and that's maybe being too generous, that's still not enough profit given the team size and development length for a stan...

It'll be a GAAS boring open world loot driven shooter with microtransactions built into its core progression, light RPG elements and crafting. They've looked at Destiny and want a piece of that pie, same as what EA did with Anthem. An on-going service game where thousands of players are buying microtransactions every week. That's what their main shareholders will be asking for and the top execs who make millions in bonuses alone every year will want that too. They don't pla...

@ Starchild -
Well Rare have only put out a Kinect game in 2014 and one new original game in Sea of Thieves in 2018.
That's a poor return IMO over the course of a gaming generation. SoT felt unfinished and severely lacked content, a team of around 200 people working on it for 4 years, that's just unacceptable, a badly managed project.
343 - one new game this generation, okay so they helped with Halo Wars 2 but we're almost 5.5 years into this generatio...

Yeah, Phil Spencer's been playing it cheap.
Sea of Thieves and Crackdown 3 feel like games that were made by no more than 100 people over 2 years and State of Decay 2 is just a joke, why wasn't that properly funded and turned into a proper AAA game?
MS have all the money in the world yet their recent exclusives feel poorly funded and managed.
This is incompetence we haven't seen since the days of Atari.
