Because of corporate greed.
They feel that not enough women are playing AAA games, so they try and appeal to them with female protagonists.
Big businesses don't make decisions to make people feel included and accepted, they do what they think will make them the most profit from tapping into new and/or under explored potential consumers.
An emerging Asian middle class, bam - more Asian protagonists in games.
Emerging female independancy (own ca...
Wow, the protagonist faces off against their foe, then jumps off something to land a two-handed blow onto their enemies head. Not seen that before in a trailer, honest ......
Lol.
Because ND and Sony feel that their games aren't selling enough to Asian-American women who are generally well educated with good disposable income, an un-tapped market for them.
Irrelevant whether that demographic will actually buy this game on mass, but Sony and ND are greedy, and that greed overtakes logical thinking.
I was not aware that 3 was a wrap up of Geralt's story.
Suppose it makes sense.
"Stop being afraid of women, you can talk to them y'know." lol, can I? thanks.
Still, I'm looking forward to the next GOW game, Goddess of War where you play as Freya and/or Angrboda, and you have to kill Kratos in the opening segments. It's coming, it's coming ....
It's not generally a problem.
What is a problem however is an established character in an established series of games being sidelined to accomodate a female protagonist in order to appeal to a demographic that doesn't generally play this type of game.
A Witcher spin-off game where you play as Ciri, fine, no problem at all, would welcome it.
But a mainline Witcher game that switches out its playable character, no, why would they do that?
Imagine if B...
Oh FFS
Another hack n slash.
Looks genric as fuck.
RIP Naughty Dog.
Of all the type of games ND could make and it's yet another sci-fi hack n slash in a saturated market.
And are we ever going to play as a white, or even a non-white guy, in a AAA game ever again?
You know, the majority of the player base.
Exactly.
Review bomb due to lazy writing, a real lack of RPG depth, boring characters, boring character interactions, only a handful of enemy types, crappy cartoony plastic faces, crap skill tree, repitive combat that becomes a chore, dialogue that sounds like it's been written by AI, an over used art style, etc etc.
There's plenty wrong with this game if you exclude the "woke" bits.
In fact, I think developers are using "woke" ...
More gaslighting from the gaming industry.
Modern AAA games can be profitable, very profitable if developers hadn't fallen into bad habits.
Unless it's a mega project, think GTA6, Elder Scrolls etc etc, then no AAA game should really take more than 3 years to release, if it's properly managed of course.
Trouble is, nowadays the first year of development is spent testing extra revenue streams, microtransactions etc, to see how to implement them...
I always buy physical when possible.
1, it's generally cheaper, you can always get a boxed copy from some retailler less than the online store price.
2, you can trade it in for cash or credit once you completed / finished with it.
3, you can loan it to mates.
4, you actually own it, not just some online license or whatever.
5, a boxed copy may become a collectable and therefore make you a tidy profit in the future if you sell it.
To be fair, Xbox is a pretty hateable gaming division, considering the utter mess they've made of both the One and Series range of consoles.
The 360 was awesome, the One started well (when you consider the range of exclusives in its first two years) but quickly nose dived once Phil Spencer took charge.
Fuck Xbox this gen, they deserve all the hate gamers can give them.
Edit: And this is coming from a gamer who owns/ed every Xbox console, apart from th...
The combat in W3 was insultingly easy.
Cast Quen, attack, attack, dodge, repeat.
"I'm invincible!"
Ideally yes, but Phil Spencer has messed up Xbox so much that they need to release their games on Playstation to become profitable.
Well, it'll be a month of GP Ultimate on the Series X, and if I really like it and want a physical copy I'll buy it on the PS5 next year.
What a load of gaslighting bollocks.
Most modern AAA game developers wouldn't know a good game if it sat on their face.
Developers make safe boring games like Dragon Age Veilguard and Concord because they are lacking in talent and are creatively lazy.
A boring slogfest compared to the first game.

Suspect Marathon may do okay, probably will never be profitable though.
Fairgame$ is going flop so hard it's going to hilarious.
