so true. ps5 will have BC with ps4 - so , buy the new system and play new and old games.
what sony is doing is nothing like nintendo. the big N brought out the switch because the wii u was a failure. sonys ps4 is very successful - so, in this regard, it's not like nintendo. also,mark cerny gave an interview in which he gave info on their next console (ps5?) i didn't know that just giving an interview is " following in the footsteps of nintendo". if so, then just about every company in the world follows nintendo. LOL

so excited - i've already been impressed with RE2, metro:exodus and sekiro this year - i think it's likely DG delivers too. i don't remember this many high-quality games in the first 4 months of a year.

sony has been in the console business for 20+ years and have done nothing but deliver - i'll be preordering a ps5 as soon as possible.
the 360 had a year headstart- from the time ps3 launched and until the end of that gen, it outsold the xbox . i think anyone would like to make the "mistakes' you're talking about and be that successful.
i think sony likes the sales crown much more than having the power crown.
i don't care if it's 100gig - i'm ready to play!
"quality of life" changes?
i'll tell you how i felt when the pro was released - i didn't care. i was (and still am) very happy with my launch ps4. the pro, like the X, was just a way to milk money out of those who like to buy anything new that comes out. pro and x sales haven't come close to the ps4 and xbox1 numbers.
edit: why do you think there needs to be 2 versions? i haven't heard cerny mention there will be a ps5 pro.
if sonys exclusives on ps5, can have an appreciable upgrade over games like GoW4 and bloodborne - i'd pay the 600 and not think twice about it. for me, acceptable price comes down to how much of a game upgrade is being offered.
remember back around 2007 - 2010 and this site had a couple of "sony is doomed" articles every day? now the narrative has changed to "consoles are doomed" - and in 5 years, sonys ps5 will be cranking out great exclusives and STILL selling them on physical, high-capacity discs as well as offering dloads to those that want them - you're right...it's all about choice and sony has always been very good at giving us options.

loco - i'm a LONG time gamer and know what i like - i like having the disc for the game. all-digital is fine for music -not for games. i'll quit if streaming/dloads are the only game options.
