If you want to talk about an open world game that allows you to interact with anything and go anywhere then Minecraft and Fallout 4 must be a contender for GotY as well. They really didn't do anything all that new or special. It's basically just a Zelda game that's open world.
I don't think it should have won. It's just so simple compared to other open world games and there's so much map space, yet far little to do in comparison. I just want to point out that it is possible for any large company, be it EA, Nintendo (who has had anti-trust law suits in the past), Sony, MS, Bethesda, any of these mega gaming companies can bully reviewers into giving their games top score or be denied into event and early review copies.

I disagree. WoW did plenty with the areas and put plenty of content out to fill up just about every inch of WoW, at least in Vanilla.
