You talk about cheesy gimmicks and then say Nintendo does not take risks. I would say those "gimmicks" are pretty damn risky and have so far paid off for them. The endless rehashing of Mario is a lie almost as old as "Nintendo is doomed" as evidenced by over 120 original IP's in Nintendos library. The fact that they showed more new IP's than Sony or MS at E3 also proves you wrong.

They have not pushed motion control nearlyh as hard as they did with the Wii, but the games that use it well are some of the best games I have played. The Gamepad is a regular controller but with an added screen. And about 10% of the games on Wii U right now have the names Mario, DK or Zelda in them.

Wonderful 101 was a proper new IP. And Splatoon is looking awesome. Project Giant Robot looks very cheesy but the potential is there. I imagine a King of Monsters type game using that control scheme. Captain Toad is a new IP and Mario Maker, while essentially another Mario game is going to be huge I believe becuase it is like buying an infinite number of Mario games.

Sony used to have Crash Bandicoot but then they were stupid and sold him off. MS has never declared Master Chief to be their mascot but I think gamers have made it so. Although I don't know how much longer that series can continue, so it may be detimental to have the mascot part of a genre that is very cyclical and doesn't easily spin off into other genres like Mario and Crash have both done. A mascot can be important for creating an image, and we see mascots across the world from the...

I bought a Wii U in October last year and hit Platinum status in May. I already have 120 points toward next year as well. I do hope they bring back physical rewards but not complaining about free games either, although they could be newer or at least more expensive games considering how much I spent to get there.

That is not 100% of the time though. Since seeing this study I ahve watched my two dogs more closely when on walks or when they go out in the yard and I am having a cigarette. And while 1 of them does tend to do this more often than not, the other seems to go facing whatever direction he wants, although he has always been a stubborn one :) But more to your point as you were obviously trying to comment on how the Wii U is like dog crap, the funny thing is is that the Wii U's motion and pos...

Can't wait to try this game

I do agree this has been an ongoing problem but I hope that as the kids grow into adults they will become mature enough to enjoy Nintendo.
I started on Colecovision and then had an NES. The NES cemented my future as a gamer, but when it was Genesis vs. SNES I went with the cooler Genesis. Even got a Sega CD and 32 X. By highschool I was playing PS1 and then PS2 which I took to college with me. I never thought up to then I would own another kiddie Nintendo console until I had all nigh...

As a 33 year old gamer it is good to see Nintendo trying to get back into the M rated arena by bringing in third parties to do those games, but I hope Nintendo remains Nintendo and keeps making their games for everyone. I have grown up with them and the Mario's and Donkey Kongs are still more interesting than most of the other games out there. And people think that those games are for kids but most kids struggle with those games because they require real skill to beat. Kids these days unf...

If it wasn't Wii U exclusive the game would not exist and your hopes of a third would never have been anyway so why hate on the Wii U saving it? And to your second comment the game is 1080 on Wii U.

Hopefully they continue this series. Nintendo has a huge win with this game if they do kep it going. Sony and MS will be kicking themselves for that mistake. I have enough PS3 games to keep me busy on that front so not a big deal for me, but for the ones who refuse to buy a Wii U just because their ego's won't let them are going to be missing out. If this game does well it will remain a Nintendo exclusive for a long time coming.

Most exclusives, most new IP, largest variety and most original ideas. I agree. The other 2 focused too much on remakes of old games, non gaming features and had 15 minute videos of Far Cry or Call of Duty to pad their time. I want all 3 systems eventually but Nintendo made me happy to be a Wii U owner now, the others I can wait another year for.

Nintendo won in terms of best lineup of exclusives, most new IP's and most originality and variety in their titles. Sony was a close second with great third party games and things.

I agree mostly with what you said, but I would also point out that while Wii U is doing better than Xbox One in total sales, and now even in week to week sales, the media is still counting Nintendo out. Lots of articles refer to the "next generation of gaming" but then only mention PS4 and Xbone. While Wii U may not match the sheer power, it is still part of this generation by definition of the word. And there have been journalists who have basically said Wii U does not count as par...

How about we try being proud of enjoying what we enjoy. If you secretly love Nintendo but pretend to not like them then you are lying to yourself, and when someone finds out the truth will only make people wonder what else you have to hide. I am 33 and I love Nintendo games.

I have been saying since the beginning that Nintendo will win this generation again. At worst they will come in second, but they are the only ones pushing gaming forward. Sure other systems have more third party shooters and GTA and Dragons Age type games, but Nintendo also has similar types of those games as well as truly new experiences that can't be had elsewhere. Ask yourself "would I prefer 50 dude bro shooters that are all teh same, and 50 action RPGs that are all the same, and...

With the most new IPs, the best most asked for games and even a few third party IP's that were stolen from other systems Nintendo definately won E3. Besides, with all the talk about Nintendo having no third party support there are still 20+ third party developers with games in development for Wii U including heavy hitters like Activision, Ubisoft and Namco Bandai.

They have both said that losing Nintendo would be detrimental to the games industry.

So a games title make it popular? Well then it seems to have worked for Donkey Kong, Mega Man, and SSX which have odd sounding names.

They had more than 3 new IP even just counting first party. Plus they showed some new third party exclusive IP.
