Batman AC, deus ex, portal 2 and dark souls are games that IMO should be the standard. Games that give you options, a certain complexity in it's gameplay aspects. Games like uncharted 3 are fun and are very cinematic heavy. Not a lot of developers can do it properly like naughty dog, think of BF3, the campaign is focused on providing a cinematic experience but to me it boils down to scripted events and quicktime sequences. Do you really want games to go in that direction?
Uncharted 2 was kinda meh to me compared to gears 3 to be honest. The shooting was lackluster and the story was boring, not saying that gears' story was any better but the gameplay was much more enjoyable.
God don't you just love the hyperbole around new releases.
