I thought Bayonetta was better than DMC4 as well, because it took a lot of the tropes of the DMC/Ninja Gaiden/God of War action-beat 'em up genre and added some interesting new additions, along with over the top, varied sequences and story-telling. Agreed. I loved that level. Just about every inch of it, from getting to the hospital to hitting the elevator, to climbing the rooftops and manning the turrents...man, the single-player didn't offer much longetivity but the intensity in each of those storylines was quite amazing. Maybe I should look into playing L4D2...

Nah, nothing like that. Some RPGs let you do whatever you want (actually "play" the "role", as in you are Marshton and can do whatever you want as him) and others have you acting out the role (like when you play as Cloud or Squall and can't control the different plots triggering) but deep down, they're both RPGs in that they're trying to draw you into the story, even the setting.
