A lot of people do, as said above, the game is scalable also, I run crysis warhead on high and get 45-60 frames, on very high it doesn't run as good, but I still get a 30 frame average, but pc gamers don't consider 30 frames up to scratch. There's no such thing as perfect for a game, my idea of perfect is 1080p with 16qaa, 16af, ambient occlusion and get constant 60 frames with vsync, if you mean that, then no, no one does, but the game is future proofed on pc, which is why the first game is ...

I didn't know the ban was reversed until now, that's awesome news, special editions are cool, but this one is a bit pricey for me

PC games are royalty free, meaning that even at a lesser price the games usually have a higher profit margin, just look at the companies that use steam etc, they sell the games for practically half price + they give valve a cut, and they still laugh all the way to the bank

I've got no problem with multiplats, I do have a problem with bad multiplats though. Farcry 2 is the second best looking pc game I have ever seen ( counting crysis and crysis warhead together at the top), and it is a multiplat, with the right amount of effort etc there is no reason the games cannot look the best they possibly can for their respective platform.

Fingers crossed cryengine 3 is the middleware engine to eliminate the exclusive/multiplat gap. But we'll find out in time...

I loved fear 2 on pc, the graphics were pretty damn decent, and it was a fun game, I thought the guns had awesome feel especially the sniper and the hammerhead gun or whatever the hell they called it

Here's an example of the true scalability of cryengine 3

here's the working Wii version:

@dreamhunk

There have been studies done that suggest that there is a positive link between piracy and game sales ( meaning pirates are exposed to games and are able to try them, and that the majority of them buy the games etc), piracy claims are a cop ...

"as they don't sacrifice any quality on the PC Version!!!!!!1 "

amen to this, but at the same time I hope it's not exponentially more demanding, DX11 + a small increase and a ton of optimisations are all I want, it it runs as bad on current hardware as the first game did at the time, they will really be shooting themselves in the foot

@TABSF

Same here, hopefully nvidia are way ahead of the curb so come crysis 2 it won't be a big deal

That would be amazing for all gamers if it was, as cryengine 3 is a middleware engine it would open up the floodgates for a stack of amazing looking games, but for some reason, people seem to wish it failure, if I had a ps3 I would be praying to god that every game released topped every other in graphics, but the backwards logic of many means they want uncharted 2 to remain at the top :S

Don't know why anyone would want graphics to stagnate, but I suppose it comes with buying a c...

I honestly hope this game isn't as big a leap as the first game, but seeing as it will support DX11 etc I imagine it will be punishing, I should really wait for this game to release before I even think about upgrading, because if a shiny knew card goes weak in the knees again, i'll be pissed

alright fool, my last bubble goes to you.

"Developers are constantly paying Microsoft for help implementing Direct X correctly into there games"

AHAHAHA

Microsoft has absoluetely nothing to do with games development, they don't even have their own PC games developers, you do realise that Nvidia and Ati get together and decide on what features the next DX version will feature, just so there is a standard for games development, so essentially Nvi...

The point people are making is not that it isn't only usable on windows OS, it's that people are refering to pc as a 'microsoft platform' which it is not. The 360 camp is also claiming that the sales of games on windows somehow go in microsofts favour, which they do not, as has ben listed many times, MS gets no cut of any pc game, even 'games for windows' games (the certification is free, a developer only needs to have their game pass compatibility tests), people also do not buy OS's based so...

I highly doubt that, despite the ever present fanboy logic, pc gaming continues to thrive more than ever while the present generation of console's have earned their various makers record amounts of debt, it is more likely that the modern console will cease to exist and that 'console's' will merely be games streamed to the lounge room via an integrated entertainment system known as pc.

PC has always and still does have the largest number of exlusive gamers per year, as well as mor...

hate to break it to you, but 99.9999999999% of games on both consoles are 720p or less

I just want to add that the games I'm looking forward to the most next year are multiplats, and I couldn't care less:

Bioshock 2
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Fallout: New Vegas
Mass Effect 2
Crysis 2
Aliens Vs. Predator,

point is, the 2010 line up is amazing for all, can't wait for starcraft 2 though, it's been far too long...

I don't buy MS windows because it plays games, I buy it because it's the best OS in my opinion, the fact that it plays games is a bonus, "spin it any way you like" but MS doesn't get a cent from pc gaming and half the games in that 'exclusive' list are also available on pc

Good link

Pc gaming= 12 billion in 2008 ( that's just game sales, no hardware etc)

PC gaming is definitely not dead

You don't know what you're talking about, game developers pay MS to get the games for windows certification, which just means it works on windows, the game sales though, MS doesn't get anything, PC is not a MS platform tool. The only money MS gets from me is a new OS every few years, in between they don't get a god damn cent from software, games or hardware, and that's the way I like it.

EDIT:

after reading saakings link an edit is in order, they get no money even f...

that's right, 120 frames for blu ray etc is just duplicating the frame, but for gaming you get the whole 120 frames, each frame unique, using a supposed "120z HDTV" for gaming would only increase input lag, due to the fact thew you would see the same frame 4 times before noticing mouse movement etc, which is the exact opposite of responsive which is what this monitor is for, 3d gaming still seems like a gimmick to me, even those that use it and say it's cool, still say it hurts thei...

I'll be buying one of these monitors, but I personally don't care about 3d, because unlike supposed "120hz HDTV"'s this actually displays 120 individual unique frames, whereas hdtv's display each frame multiple times to give the illusion of smoothness, this will be an awesome gaming monitor, 120frames with v-sync? yes please
