IGN has really gone downhill.
I don't think that it ever really recovered from its abysmal launch. They did a great job turning it around but it was just too big of a hole to dig out of.
40,000,000 units sold
Roughly 2:1 lead over their closest competitor
Continued growth month after month only losing something like 2 months since release
.........Let's change it
Why do people keep equating gaming consoles with telephones?
That is a false equivalency my friend. Phones, cars, etc. are expected to be upgraded or changed on a much faster rate than gaming consoles. There is no assumption of longevity with the former. You could argue that is on the consumer, but you already know that the next iPhone is coming in a year 10 seconds after you buy yours. You know it upfront. 40 million people had no idea that their investment in their PS4 was going to be outdated in less than 3 years. Again, maybe you can say that is on...
Wow. You just set a new standard for the false equivalent.
Not everyone is OK with it.
Agreed.
So I should just go along with change? Why should I be a follower?
Spoken like someone who doesn't have to worry about paying for anything
Exactly.
Dude, you're arguing logic to a bunch of kids. Good luck with that.
Agreed
But the base price is supposedly the same for both consoles. By everything that we've seen and heard, the original PS4 will be killed by default as there is no incentive for anyone to purchase the original model who hasn't already done so.
Far too much grey area here. Sony needs to address this whole Neo thing as soon as possible
I just don't see how a fractured fan base is ever a good thing
Except that the games on the slim version of the console play, look, and perform exactly the same way as they did on the original console.
But it does affect you. Because not only do developers have to devote extra time and resources to 2 versions of the game now but they are also required to be bundled together. There is a very legit concern that my install just got larger than it should be because a portion of the install will be used to address something that doesn't affect the hardware that I'm running and that also takes up space on my HDD.
If Sony doesn't want everyone even those who already purchased a PS4 to buy one then why would they make and sell one?
Couldn't agree more. I really think that it's going to come down to how important exclusives are to you. If they are important, then I can see going along with this. If they aren't that important I can't see why I shouldn't abandon the consoles all together and just build (or buy) a good gaming PC and upgrade that as I see fit
