for 199 with a King Kong and a remote is an unbelievable bargain. As far as the hard drive...99 for a detatchable 20 gig hard drive simular to a lab top hard drive is simular in pricing. the price will drop...their will be the 100 gig coming soon for under 120. And you don't have to rip apart your video game console to hook it up. Snap off...snap on...amazing. And the first party wi fi adapter isn't neccessary for "MOST" gamers and you don't have to buy the first party version....
With ms releasing a HD dvd player and HD tv's selling better than last year...they had to update the dash and allow for 1080p output for movies and games. Just like with the hdmi that will come soon enough. Its a future proof console. And every single 360 owner is happy that the 300 or 400 they spent on the system is going a long ways and evolving. I mean...we bought a 1080i console and its now 1080p. We bought a console that plays every dvd on the planet...and it now will play hd dvd's....
1080p is possible. But you have to take away from somthing to get it. And in the end, most developers won't do it. Higher res also means less detail and less graphical fidelity. Thank goodness MS and ATI have the embedded ram for AA and HDR. They have already stated they could do 1080p games with AA and HDR with little hit to the hardware. Future proof feature. WOW. Make the console 500 for the core. Thats my point. If MS would have added in all the features and beefed up the premium...it would be totally out of the price range for "MOST" gamers. The price of the 360 premium 20 gig version will drop to 349.99. Then they will have a 100 gig premium for 399.99. And the 100 gig drive itself will be 99 and the 20 gig will be 49. Watch and see. The much higher cost of developement coupled with a much smaller fan base. But I figured the games would be realistically between 70 and 90 dollars. If they sell games at 60 dollars with such a small fan base and 1/3rd higher costs of developement....that would hurt developers in a big way. And it just makes the 360 that much more desirable for devs. Cheaper, easier to dev for, faster dev times, and much bigger fan base. Thats incredible profit margins...WOW. Thanks Microsoft.
But you have to have a vga cable to get the upscaled 1080p for any movies. Games can do 1080p with the componant cables. Movies can only do 1080i with componant cables.

Well said. I been telling some of these sony blu ray supporters that for a while. I even posted a link to the film grain tech you are talking about. It does ad that special something to the quality of the movies. HD dvd also has the name. DVD is the standard worldwide. You add HD to it and its easily seen as the next best thing. Many people have no clue what the heck blu ray is. And when they see the price, it really makes them say "heck no". For a movie formatt to succeed....
