I'm NOT a supporter of the limited game activation DRM system that exists in games like Mass Effect, Spore, Crysis Warhead, just to name a few. But this new implementation is indeed WORSE. I live in Malawi (Africa), where Internet connection speeds for the average home customer is slow and expensive. For a 24/7 connection, I'm currently paying $100 a month.
I don't think gamers worldwide will embrace this new system of Electronic Arts. I can honestly say I'll not be buying this...
As much as I adore the Core i7, I agree with what Nvidia is saying.
The thing is quad-core processors (Core 2 Quad and Core i7) offer no real benefits over dual-core processors in games...games have barely adapted to dual-core processors, needless to say quad-core does very little for performance boost in this respect. However, quad-core processors have proved to excel in powerful video editing and graphics design applications. But for gaming, unless one is going to overclock the...
I totally disagree with the article...it's just another excuse to start a flame battle on the web.
What I was trying to say in my comment is that though Valve thinks episodic production is a solution, it's proving to be a failure on their part. But I do believe it's a solution that could still work depending on the practices of a game company and their projects. But as far episodic production goes, I'm not a supporter of it.
When Episode 3 releases and Valve asks gamers which mode of production is preferable, a majority will vote for FULL GAME development against EPISODIC.
I longed to play Half-Life 2 when it released in 2004, but my PC and internet connection were short on requirements. Fortunately, I played it a year later when it released on the original Xbox…the game was a great experience, but the cliffhanger ending left me wanting more.
When THE ORANGE BOX came out with the two episodes but one, I decided to wait playing this amazing package of games until Episode 3 releases. This holding-off is to spare the excitement building which Episode ...

Sony is coming hard for E3. With the likes of Uncharted 2, God of War 3, MAG, Heavy Rain, Grand Tourismo etc, you can see why even Sony is stating this will be the biggest E3 in their favor in 11 years...I am excited for them.
But the silence and secrecy shrouding Microsoft is getting me curious. With their current situation of studio closures, it's simple to think less of them as to what they can come up with compared to Sony. Despite this, Microsoft shouldn't be underestimated....
Initially, I was excited for the PS3/X360 version (it's what I'll get). But after looking at the different art style and design of the wii/PS2 versions to the PS3/X360, I love it too. I am actually considering of getting the PS2 version as well...it'll depend on my gaming budget since I only score games for the PS3 and X360 these days.
I'm sure some one out there is having this same feeling too.
I think this year’s E3, from both Microsoft and Sony will be more to do with confirmations and showings of past announcements than NEW game debuts. Just to name a few, probably confirmations and showings of Alan Wake, SC Conviction, Mass Effect 2, Halo ODST from Microsoft; Uncharted 2, MAG, Heavy Rain, God of War III from Sony. I am yearning to play all the mentioned games from Microsoft and Sony, except MAG since I am an off-line gamer (but I still do appreciate what MAG is trying to do and ...
Good for Microsoft, though I believe THE LOST AND THE DAMNED would have sold over a million copies by now if it released on a disc. A disc-based solution is more accessible than DLC. Personally, I am not a fan of DLC, probably because I live in a non-Xbox LIVE region...internet is still slow in my country (and expensive too). Hopeful after Episode 2 releases via DLC, Microsoft/Rockstar will at a future date produce a GTAIV complete edition containing the full game and the two episodes or just...
Just because Microsoft has been quiet doesn't mean they have given up the year to Sony and Nintendo...they would be foolish to fold their arms thinking their position in the console business is okay. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are businesses...everyday each of these companies is formulating and cooking plans on how to make money and beat their competition. E3 is just a few months away for games announcements and confirmations from the big 3...besides, we have just started the second quarter...
Out of the list, I am only looking forward to Alan Wake...but I will be waiting to get excited since the state of its release is unknown. inFamous, which was not on the list is another free-roaming game I am looking forward to.
This comparison is unnecessary. I found the article quite upsetting and provocative...made me want to post a blog :)
Otherwise, I find both engines to be exceptional pieces of technology.
This news doesn't surprise me. Last year, when I watched the SECTION 8 announcement trailer (plus developer interview and documentary), I got excited...the concept of the game sounds cool. The announcement trailer indicated COMING SOON TO NEXT-GEN CONSOLES...meaning the PlayStation 3 and Xbox360 (and PC). On January 23 (2009), I got suspicious watching a new released trailer, which at the end indicated COMING SOON FOR CONSOLE AND PC. The word CONSOLE meaning either PlayStation 3 or Xbox360. ...
This is what we need, 'anti-fanboyism'. Regardless of platform, if a game is good, it should be appreciated.
It's possible Microsoft and Sony could co-exist in the games industry by combining their technologies (hardware + software) and sharing the profits. But currently, these two companies are too stubborn to combine forces. Sony loves their PlayStation, and Microsoft its Xbox...each of these devices are more than a games console, they are multimedia tools battling for the living room for varied entertainment.
These graphics comparisons should not be happening. It is like trying to prove one game is better than the other judging by the visuals.
Every game that is out there and in development is UNIQUE. Unique in its story, design, presentation, gameplay, visuals and other elements it is built on. Each game is different; therefore its experiences will differ from other games. For example, Gears of War provides an experience Uncharted will not provide (and vice versa). Same with Metal Ge...
I think both consoles will have a good 2009.
"SWEET"
I have an alternate list of developers who should be in the Top-8, but I respect PS University's choosing. The thing is, a thousand developers are out there...if a hundred (unbiased) people were tasked picking their Top-8, each of them would produce a different list.
