1. Kinetic sold because the entery level cost of owning it was 299 with the x360. The X1 will cost $200 more so it will be significantly more expensive for casuals that may be looking at buying it.
2. Forcing kinetic will drive up dev cost and add gimmicky motion gaming that add little or no value to core gaming.
3. Having PSeye optional forces devs to build better motion gaming games that will attract...
Entry cost is more important to consumers than having potential features that are gimmicky that add cost and most likely be of not much use to the majority that buys it.
What you really need to spend to get ready for next gen is
x1 = 499
PS4 = 399

Yeah i think that might be the case. Publishers are afraid of the backlash and they know they can't really push Sony i guess seeing as how they can't afford to not be on the PS4.

Well i can't wait to get my PS4 to accompany my Wii-U. I won't even get a X1 if they give it out for free.
HDMI and HD component were more expensive then.
Basically Sony gained a lot of manufacturing experience with the PS3 that has allowed them to get the price down for PS4.
Nothing in the PS4 Sony had to break any bank in R&D and manufacturing like it was the case with the PS3 when they were dev and launching it.
Sony learn a lot from their difficult experience with the PS3 which obviously have helped them immensely for the PS4.
