MS miscalculated. They thought gamers are stupid enough to forgive them if they showed many games at E3. In their arrogance they though they could kill Sony by just showing the games they had.
They did show the games but what was way more important to gamers leading up to E3 is the future of console gaming for gamers. It was bleak and depressing until Sony completely turned everything on its head near the end...

Most of these exclusives that MS and her fans are harping about are originally Kinetic crap ware re-skinned to be hardcore exclusives. It still show its kinetic lameness.
In their lame attempt to impress gamers at E3 they had to resort to such lame crappy half kinetic shovelware to bump up the numbers.
Years of development and then finally blowing their load and it's still crap. Now they have announce virtually every game they have for the next 1.5 years ...

Sony puts out the best hardware and software for gamers.
Sony have consistently put out generation defining games year after year.

Indies is key for next gen. Sony understands this. The tools avaliable are becoming more and more powerful that games produced are on par or better than last gen at a fraction of the normal cost.
Indie dev will also drive diversification and unique gaming expereinces that is critical to console appeal. Having a price tag that is a fraction of the cost of regular games will also be a big plus.

Still prefer online gaming to be free like it is on the PS3 but i do understand why they have to do what they have to do.
Sony only need to do exactly the opposite of what MS are doing to do well.
Heck Sony does not need adverting anymore. MS is doing a great job of advertising how great Sony is by showing how bad they are.
