I didn't have any of the problems while playing on 360. What console did you play it on? The city being too small? What? Just because it didn't have wastes of expanse like San Andreas? The city was huge and dense. I completed 85% of the game and still haven't seen every nook and cranny. Plus, I still marvel at the graphics in that game. All the cars and such look amazing, the character animations are fantastic. For a game that huge, the graphics are pretty phenomenal. Are they MGS 4 good? Nop...
Wow...Why do so many of you give so much of a crap about how it's worded? I swear, you all act like the success of whatever console is directly related to your lifeline.
You had to play 4 missions before you could got the cell phone...Big deal. You could shut off the cell phone at any time so you could wander around...But, really, it's funny that you didn't like the game because the developers decided to make it a certain way...That's like not liking a movie because you didn't like the direction the story went in...You're either on board with what the makers intended or you aren't...But that doesn't make the game overrated because a TON more people did like i...
Yes, but the level design requires a different approach each time...Also, each Boss is COMPLETELY different than the one before it...
BUT, I think GTA IV was an amazing game and certain tied for my Game of the Year, with MGS 4.
If people got bored with GTA it's because they didn't appreciate what Rockstar was doing with it...Shame too because it's the best one yet.
GTA IV is a great game...The best I played last year standing right there next to MGS4...I just think it's hilarious when it was first announced that it was coming to 360 at how many Sony fanboys wept and pissed a moaned about it being a PS title first and foremost...Well, I guess that's not really the case, is it?
This is why the people are Rockstar make millions...They released their biggest title cross-plat and it sold amazingly well.
Have you played it? Tons of people bought it and tons of people are loving it...I'm not one of the latter but it doesn't make it any less of a fact...The problem isn't World at War selling because it's a well-made game...
It was a fun read but a bit off base. Especially about "Strong Females" being a cliche and how it's destroying video games? It's still a fresher idea than a tough marine. And how is it destroying games? Wow that was a dumb statement that reeks of trying to fill space.
The other one is sequelitis. How can this be a trend since it's been going on since the advent of the medium? It's not a trend, it's the standard.
Not surprising...World at War is a solid game with a decent MP...Gears is a decent single player with a terrible MP.
Metal Gear has always been one man stealth. Killzone is game with a squad. The very concept of squad based games lends itself to co-op. And it adds TONS of replay value and fun to a game. You can play COD by yourself or with a friend or three. It makes perfect sense that people would like the OPTION.
And no, co-op doesn't ruin the single-player experience.
I see them more as interesting set dressing. The meat of the games, for me, has always been the story and the missions and the extreme amounts of variety of ways I can complete them.
That's fine and that's you...I play them because they're incredibly fun and extremely well-designed games. But you saying that is like saying "I don't watch movies for realism"...These games are created, for the most part, with great care like the best films. And like films, they have tones and themes...The best games and films adhere strictly to these things and GTA IV is a great game for it.
And yet another person that missed the point of the game they were playing...
The story was amazing and easily the best in the series. It had actual themes at work that comment on something rather than aping a Brian DePalma or John Singleton film. It was superbly written and acted all around. Something the GTAs have been missing since day one.
The lack of gun choices = realistic. The lack of a jet pack = realistic. No jets = tasteful; the last thing this world needs ...
"Back" to basics? No GTA ever, had no missions. That and I get bored incredibly fast without anything to do mission-wise. And a lot of other people as well...Getting rid of the missions and having the game just be random is a TERRIBLE idea and would cost them a great deal of fans.
They look identical to me...I'm getting the 369 version because of the sticks...They're a bit stiffer so it makes manuals a bit easier to pull off...
The problem with this site is that it's too easy for irrationality and fanboyism to dictate who gets to speak more. It's absolutely retarded that they give the users that much power...The only people that should be able to take away bubbles should be mods.
Sony doesn't need an exclusive that sells as well as Halo but I'm sure they want one.
As far as a "Halo Killer" I think what everyone is referring to is a shooter that replaces Halo as THE exclusive shooter. I'd love for a game to do that because Halo is, well, an incredibly overrated series.
COD has the best FPS controls I've ever played and I completely mapped Resistance 2's buttons to ape COD's...So I agree that customizable controls should ALWAYS be in the shipped code of a game. I understand that the makers of KZ2 had something specific in mind with the way it's laid out, but it really should be up to the player to make the gameplaying experience as close to their version of perfect as possible. Personally I can't wait for the game.
Yeah, tons of people still play it with new players all the time...When the new one came out I knew I wasn't done with 4 so I kept it...Glad I did too.
Fable 2 is at the top of my short list.
Otocon is the worst voice actor I've heard in some time...His "emotional" scenes were down-right embarrassing. Everyone in GTA had pitch perfect delivery. Mind you, I loved MGS 4 but it should never get a voice acting award for that performance alone.
