I just don't understand how advertising works on people in the first place, and this is not limited to games. I don't see an ad for Snickers and want one, I don't see ads for games that convince me to buy them, I don't watch car commercials and say 'Yeah, that sold me'. If you're advertising a special (limited bundle, sale) I get it, awareness matters. If it's just a brand new product then sure, ads let people know it's out there.
What I don't ...

Have to agreed, it's amazing how people can so easily forget how trash of a company EA can be and has been in the past and even now. Business is like a magic trick, they want you to watch one hand while the other one sets up the big surprise...

I partially agree with what you're saying but I think some of the logic is flawed. I do think a price drop would help but only a small one, like to $275. Nintendo already has a decent price point, it's still cheaper than other consoles even after the Xone price drop and the online is free, which makes it 40-$50 cheaper every year than the other systems.
As for the gamepad, I do think HAVING to have the gamepad for menu stuff and such should be patched out but a gamepad less co...

I 100% agree, I watched about 40 minutes of gameplay and it just seems off. I think it's that the mechanics and the AI seem rough, coupled with bad level design and uninspired enemy placement. Maybe it's just the area I watched or the guy that was playing, but being a big fan of DS and DS2 I have to say from what I've seen I'm not impressed at all.

Retailers tend to have control over how much stock they get, not the publishers. Unless very few copies were printed it's likely many stores simply didn't order the stock they needed.

Is anyone who can't find the game looking online? From what I understand its readily available from numerous online retailers.

This surely is to commemorate the Battle of le Resistance in 1836, where the peasant revolutionaries shaved the moustaches of the armies generals so as to cause leadership confusion on the battlefield.
The person responsible for providing the shaving cream, Pierre Gillette, has since been known as a hero that is celebrated once a year by trading shaving cream with your friends for various goods.
Or at least that's what I'm telling myself....

@paul
The rest of my statement already covers your problem, Mario has gone from 2D to 3D and back and back again with various level design changes, power up changes, character roster changes, 1 player-4 player with or without co op depending on the game, various camera views and more. There tons of differences between Sunshine, Galaxy, 3D world and Mario 64.
The games with the most in common are the 2D entries, with mechanics simply being upgraded and power ups being changed ...

@Boss
12 over the course of 30 years, over 6 generations of consoles, isn't many at all. Assassins Creed has 6 titles (1,2,Brotherhood,Revelation,3, 4) with another one (Rouge) on the way for one console generation, and that's leaving out the HD port of Liberation. And, unlike Mario, Assassins Creed is the same basic game, with the exception of IV and it's ship sailing, while Mario goes between different styles (2D, 3D) and mechanics (Galaxy). Call of Duty has released wha...

Mario only has like 12 console entries in the Mario series, Zelda has 9 (that's including Four Swords) and Pokemon has 9 and is handheld only. Mario and Zelda have between around since the mid to late eighties, Pokemon the 90's. These are LONG running franchises that have been around for decades, of course they have numerous entries. If you want to include handhelds the numbers go up, but they go up for GTA and Batman (which outside of Arkham has had MANY games as well) also.

You do realize that in the same statement you mention Nintendo milking franchises you say you're excited about the 4th installment of Arkham, Far Cry 4 (6th in the series) and GTA 5 (which is the 8th game in the series), which was also just released less than year ago, right?
