I'll have to disagree on blu-ray being needed for this generation. Next Gen definately... but right now, its not manditory. The PS3 kind of needs the installs, seeing as how it has to read 25-50gb of data, and this can be quite the task... with future drives being much faster, im sure the installs will only get smaller with time.
Hell I've seen framerate dips on plenty of PS3 games that all had manditory installs. That doesn't always solve the problem.
I kinda like the blocky look myself.

when it all comes down to it, I'd rather play a true platformer classic Banjo, than an 80% racing game. /shrug
What i found interesting was how PGR5 might be done by Turn 10 (Forza devs)... worthy to note down.

Go buy a 360. Enjoy Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon. LO and BD are fine games, not just "B-grade".... IMO - LO would have scored better if it were named Final Fantasy.
Whats funny is how developers love to lavish their game covers with review scores that are really high, but when someone doesnt give them a high score they suddenly cry out "oh its just view of one person", or "your not reviewing it right" (ala Lair).
actually the english speech was the original version for Lost Odyssey. I do believe that games intent was to appeal to westerners as well as Japanese. And I hear a lot of Japanese games are now doing english language first, because its a fad that is catching on.

No actually I live in Canada.
And matter of fact, that 15 days is called amazing service for our country. Ive had to send off 4 PS2s and those were ALL at my expense, so please don't assume that im an American, Canada usually isn't as fortunate as Americans, and generally we have had to pay more for everything... just like Europeans/World.
There is really nothing illogical with my "thinking"; my opinion of Sony having had it all and now settling for 3rd/2nd is valid in my mind.
As far as the console releasing a year ahead, I think it was neccesarry. Had they launched at the same time as the PS3, most people would have gone with the Sony console, seeing as how brand loyalty does play a major part in buyer's minds. They had to get a small install base lead in order to compensate for that.

actually, it was at there expense. considering my first xbox 360 crapped out, and they paid for the repairs and shipping cost...
The whole ordeal was 15 days. When it came back to me, it had a free month of xbox live gold attached, so really I only gained from it.

well I never said that, nor meant it that way.
I simply meant that the previous generation, Sony was obviously the leader. And that they had the momentum there to completely own this generation, but failed to do so. I meant they went from complete market domination to having to share the wealth with others, thats all.

That MS really went from hardly any market share in the games division, to being a formidable player. They really have taken Sony down a few notches. I mean for Sony to go from the top to the bottom is really a big fall from grace; sure they may be working there way back up... but they had it all. MS started with virtually nothing, and now theyve entrenched themselves with healthy growth and a heck of a lot of market share.
For myself, im glad this is getting released soon after the Japanese got it. For Blue Dragon, we had to wait quite a while...

Yes, the read speed could be faster, that is a downside... but really we are in the infancy of the format, the possibilities really are reachable down the road.
I mean, an optional HDD install for 360 games wouldn't be such a bad thing for me seeing as how I have a 120GB HDD. Hell that might make loading much easier.
And yeah we will have to wait and see just how well the technology can take us, I can hone...
