You couldn't have done a QUALITY review on Dragon Age after 10 hours. I would say on a game of that length at least wait till the midway point. Also that game changes quite a bit depending on where you start and what class you choose so I expect the reviewer to at least start the game with a few different characters to get a feel for it.
I am having a good time with Rage as well, but after all the Id Tech5 hype and the extended length of time to develop the game, I was expecting a MIND-BLOWING experience. Instead what we got was a pretty damn good FPS with a few fresh ideas.
The lack of Stalker on this list means it loses all credibility.
The problem with the Resistance series is that they never really stood out from the rest of the FPS games out there. The first had a really cool coop mode that made the game for many people. The second had a better story but everything else was worse. By the time the third one rolled around, people had either given up on the series or just don't care. If you are going to make an FPS game, then it better be damn unique or have some mechanics that make it stand out from the rest. Resistance...
I have so many issues with the statements by Joystiq.
"There are major gameplay balance differences between the two. Weapons feel different, with different fire rates and recoil. And the damage model has been radically shifted. Death comes quickly in the beta, situated more towards Call of Duty's durability, or even last year's DICE-developed Medal of Honor multiplayer. Firefights in the beta prioritize reflexes over tactics, which is a departure from Bad Company...
As far as I know this is impossible to do. You can't just upgrade hardware on a machine and magically have all your software on it look better. PS3 games are coded to run with certain graphics options.
Think of it this way: I have a PC game with no graphics options, everything is already set. Upgrading my rig will provide no benefits unless I go into the PC games .ini and change the graphics settings to a higher setting manually.
This reasoning alone is w...
Yeah, tactical games are no where near the level they once were. I remember playing the original Ghost Recon and being amazed at the difficulty level.
Yeah, I wish we had some good ole Ghost Recon or Swat 4 right about now.
Yeah, they can just as well ban that map too.
Why I would want to watch a bunch of stupid meat heads do combat training is beyond me. Also, why Drew Brees?
I have a hard time believing any game deserves a 10/10. Like the guy from Dice says, there always seems to be room for improvement.
It better be DAMN good and you better justify the hell out of why it deserves it.
The biggest problem with the boss battles was how boring they were. I didn't find them entertaining at all. They felt unnecessary and out of place. The 3rd or 4th battle (the one with no skin dude), was SOOOOOO terrible I burst out laughing. I beat it by running around and exploiting the dumb-as-hell ai as it leapt over the wall continuously. The game should have of had a big mech boss or something interesting to fight instead of the same boring fight in an small arena. Granted the best f...
One man's trash is another man's treasure. This Battlefield is a return to what made Battlefield great in the first place. They wanted to make the most out of modern PCs which are at least 10 times more powerful than consoles. That means, if Dice did their jobs right, the pc version should have 10 times more resources and power to waste on gratuitous effects such as destruction. It's a shame that console players get the short end of the stick, but there is no reason to release ano...
I like the changes to the controls. It would be nice if they added these changes to the PC version so we could have the best of both worlds. Switching suit modes was always kind of clunky but a mouse and keyboard setup still destroys a controller for FPS games.
I am just REALLY happy that console gamers finally get to play one of the greatest FPS shooters ever made. I adore the original game and I always felt it was sad that so few people played it because they didn't ha...
How much are the outfits?
I fail to see how this is a beta. They should have called it a demo instead. There is not enough content there to really warrant "beta testing".
Wow, what amazing news! Seriously how is this considered newsworthy.
I liked it too. The source material was not an easy one to take on and I thought he did a pretty good job of it. I am a rabid Silent Hill fan as well, so I am pretty critical. Most people whined and complained that it was too different from the games, but the pacing, stories, and tone from the Silent Hill series does not translate well to film. The gratuitous inclusion of Pyramid Head was a little much, but overall I enjoy the film and rank it as one of the best video game movies out there. A...
The day when the studio who developed the game has creative pull in Hollywood will be the day we get the perfect game movie. In other words, never.
Unless the game is absurdly long, I expect them to finish it. Considering most games are less than 10 hours to finish singleplayer, there is no reason to not finish it before the review. Skyrim or Dragon Age on the other hand, you might want to throw a review up after half way through and then possibly update the review later when you finish the game.
