Yeah, that's not going to happen. If anything, there will be a Switch that does not connect to the TV, but there will never be a Switch that only plays on the TV. At that point it wouldn't really be a Switch anymore.
I am not worried in the slightest about Switch in 2018 for a few reasons. First of all, we already know that Kirby, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Valkeria Chronicles, Octopath Travelers, SMT5, and Wolfenstein 2 all confirmed for next year. Second, we know that Metroid Prime and Pokemon could come as early as next year, but at the very least we know that there is a future for the console. Lastly, and most importantly, almost every game that was released on Switch this year was announced in January or ev...
I believe it has everything to do with the fact that Xbox does not sell at all in Japan. The Xbox ONE X only sold a little over 1,000 units on launch day there, and the sales overall have only gone down from there. There's no real reason for a Japanese dev to put resources into making a game that no one in their home territory will actually play. FF15 sold just over 10,000 units in Japan on Xbox ONE, for example, and other Japanese games on the console fare about as well if not worse.
I don't know why this correct and well-meaning statement has so many dislikes. I guess people on this site only want to see Playstation win and/or see Xbox fail, so all the consoles doing well makes certain people salty.
There are sometimes two different lists, one showing raw game sales and the other ranking them on how much each game made. Since Shadow of War and AC have microtransactions, they probably made for money overall even if Mario was technically the top selling game. The initial report could just be wrong and Mario may not be the best selling, but if it is then that is why there are conflicting reports.
EDIT: Looking at the source it does in fact say "ranked on dollar sales", m...
I think you misunderstood what hench was saying. He was essentially saying that he thinks that Switch will continue to outsell the PS4 on a month-to-month basis from here on out unless Sony does a price drop. I do no think he was saying that the Switch will necessarily outsell the PS4 in raw numbers (i.e. sell more than the PS4 does in their lifetimes) like I think you think he meant, though I guess there is a chance that does think this.
It did sell over 2 million in its first weekend worldwide, so it's safe to assume that it sold well over 1 million by the end of October in US alone.
But every other game nominated for GOTY was a finished product when released. Mario, Zelda, Persona, and Horizon are all being touted as some of the best (if not the best) single player experiences of all time, and I feel that they all should get the credit they deserve. I'm not saying that PUBG is not good/fun game (especially since I haven't played it), but considering that the game isn't even technically out yet and is still evolving, I feel that any of the others on the list ...
The Odyssey bundle is literally the same price as buying all the content individually (Switch+game+case=$380), plus the unique red joycons. I do wish that it were only $350-$360, but it is certainly not a rip off.
It's not about it being more fun to play on the go. It's about having the option to do that. A lot of people don't really have time to play long sessions on the couch since they are constantly on the move, so having the option to take the game with them whenever they want is very convenient.
That is what we call confirmation bias. You only looked at a small group of people, incidentally only people you personally know, when determining the hype level of both games. Since the group you selected agreed with your stance, you assume that everyone agrees with you. I could potentially do the same thing and have the exact opposite results since everyone I know personally is still playing and loving Mario Odyssey and hasn't even thought about or cares about COD. Also, of course COD w...
It's the same thing with Persona, which is an Atlus series that is only on Playstation. Nintendo probably helped publish or even fund SMTV, just like how Sony helps with the development of Persona games. I'm sure Atlus would love to have both game series come to everything possible, but they can't due to how the games are being made and distributed.
A few things. First, you cannot say that a person is wrong just for having an opinion that differs from your own, especially if that opinion that is actually shared by many people who have put hundreds of hours into the game. I myself think that Breath of the Wild is the best Zelda game, and arguably the best game I have ever played. Secondly, Pokemon has not been on a decline. If anything it is on an even higher upward swing. Sun and Moon were the fastest selling Pokemon games ever, and beat...
I find it funny that people complained when the amiibo were barely used in most games at first and then those same people got mad when they are used at all in others.
You need to look into all that Iwata did then. There are plenty of videos YouTube that show everything he did for Nintendo. Being a big part in the making of the first two Smash Bros games, being there at the origins of Kirby, basically making Pokemon Stadium run on the N64, and, probably most notably, nearly single-handedly coding in the Kanto region into Pokemon Gold and Silver are just a few of his accomplishments while working at Nintendo just as an employee.
For the record Bayonetta 2 sold over 1 million units on the Wii U, one of the worst selling consoles of all time. Considering Bayonetta's inclusion in Smash Bros, making her more recognizable to a broader audience, I could see a Bayonetta 2 port or Bayonetta 3 selling at least 1-1.5 million on the much more successful Switch.
For the record, these types of articles or even opinions were very scarce during the Wii U days. 2014 was probably the closest it came since Mario kart, Smash, and Bayonetta came out that year, but people were still pretty down on the system even after those heavy-hitters coming out. A year like this where Nintendo successfully releases a new console with Zelda, a new IP in ARMS, Splatoon 2, a new 3D Mario game, and even more all in the same year is definitely a sign that Nintendo is back on ...
I personally feel that the Switch will springboard Nintendo back to how they were back in the late 90s during the N64 and GameBoy Color days. I don't see the Switch necessarily doing Wii numbers, but most likely at least 35 million units sold. Any kind of increase over the Wii U will be considered a success for Nintendo, regardless.
The 3DS has a way bigger install base so it makes more sense for them to put a lower stkes game like this on the handheld for now. Since this is by the same guys that did Castlevania: Lords of Shadows-Mirrors of Fate on the 3DS an that game eventually came to consoles, there is a chance that this Metroid game could come to Switch sometime down the line.
Realistically they didn't give up on Wii U because no one in that position could have thought they could save it if they tried. Even releasing Mario Kart and Smash Bros in the same year did little to boost sales in the long run, so releasing even something as good as Mario Odyssey probably wouldn't have helped much more. Could there have been more support in the Wii U's last year, absolutely. 2015 and 2016 was fairly light on quality content, so having a few more good games would ...
