Pokemon Stadium is a turn-based RPG.
This is a fighting game, the first in it's series might I add.
This requires more planing and balancing than Stadium.
20 fighters is fine.
Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and even Smash Bros. didn't have a wide selection in their first entry games either.
I'm sure if the game is successful enough to warrant a sequel, we'll have a much bigger roster.
You can tell people who dont play keep up with Nintendo or it's game series.

A game like this doesn't need 60fps.
Battlefield has more happening on screen than Crash.
Platformers can get away with 30fps "especial this one" because of the way it's structured.
Everybody is so damn obsessed with frame rate and resolution this gen.
It's sickening.
Fighting games,Racing games or graphicly demanding games sure,60fp is ideal but a 3d platformer that's not open world/free roamer? Not so much
