Yes daft an adjective synonyms include simple, silly, frivollus, absurd, insane..
You keep throwing the word "fanboy" around so liberally and passing blame for MS' PR woes on playstation fans. That's "daft" because only Microsoft is to blame for their disasterous road to launch. Maybe you should work on building a better argument instead of allowing yourself to be insulted by "fanboys" smh.
At this point in the game after the massive amount of momentum that Sony is carrying into launch it would take a catastrophic revelation to derail them.
Better PR, more powerful hardware, cheaper price, better first party studios and launching at the same time.
Essentially every single disadvantage from the PS3 launch has been resolved.
Wrong again.. Digital gaming isn't on trial here.. It's Microsoft's insatiable need to control all variables in whatever business they set their eyes on.. Digital gaming may just turn out to be the future of our medium but to sit here and not only allow Microsoft to take our basic consumer rights away but to go as far as defend them is sad.
As far as people moving on could you be more daft? Every time the gaming populace moves on some Microsoft mouthpiece comes t...
@Nuke No you are the one "missing the point".
Riddle me this. How is it that Gran Turismo 6 is running at 1080p and 60fps on PS3 which has 1/16th the ram that the newer consoles have? To complicate this debacle GT6 also has 1200+ cars, 37 tracks(71 total layouts), day/night cycles, weather, and an arguably better but widely accepted physics engine?
Polyphony Digital doesn't need to tap into some magical cloud computing to pull this off.. When ...
Lol christocolus some of the most vocal on this subject were Xbox fans.. When your draconian policies gain you national publicity on major television networks then you know its not just "fanboys" "that never planned to get the xbx in the first place"
Why can't you just accept that what Microsoft was trying to accomplish was flawed, unpopular, and very anti consumer?
@badkolo Not even close to the same thing. Digital content is not a bad thing but trying to control and restrict that content is. Giving customers a feature that enhances gaming=good, restricting ownership of content=bad.
How do you draw the conclusion that adding an internet port is anywhere in the same ball park as taking digital rights from the consumer? Not only that their arrogant and smug attitudes are like that of a spoiled child and its sad.
If you live near western kentucky you can buy me out of my second preorder at my local best buy.
@brutally and M-M I've been a gamer since the OG NES.. I was 4 when I got that bad boy.. Now I'm on my 4th Playstation Generation! Man where have the years gone.. I'll be buried with a Dualshock controller!!!
You're right this isn't the whole story. What about all of the money Microsoft uses to secure third party exclusivity and all of the dlc deals that they ink? What about the estimated 1billion they ate over the RROD fiasco? What about the $500 million they spent in marketing Halo alone? Or the R&D costs of Kinect and the X1? What about the lack of first party exclusives that are real revenue drivers? All of that money thrown around and they still couldn't beat Sony. It's no...
XBL is the only thing making them money.. Its a nice stat line when Halo "x" sells 8 million copies but when you blow most of that income on developing and marketing that game your gains are minimal.. Take into consideration the marketing of the 360, RROD warranties, hardware revisions, Kinect, R&D for the X1, and the marketing suddenly all of that Live income vanishes..
Don't forget only 14 tracks, no day/night cycles, and no weather.. "No compromises" is not a term Forza 5 deserves...
@vaizard and septic I read that part and didn't included it because I was highlighting his behavior.. We don't know the nature of the remarks towards his kids or even if there were any so I wont comment on them. All I do know is that his comments and remarks belied a bitter human being and the fact that he was able to move on and make positive life changes is the key. But when you are in the public space you just don't behave the way he had, a behavior that is common amongst Micro...
@ dirigiblebill Yea because 200 cars, 14 tracks, no day/night cycles, and no weather is a next gen experience... Look it's obvious that the X1 has deficiencies on the hardware front. Developers like turn 10 and crytek are sacrificing substance of gameplay for higher visual fidelity. A true next gen console doesn't have to compromise one for the other. Just look at Killzone: shadwo fall absolutely gorgeous game running full 1080p @60fps and being lauded as a comprehensive and satisfyi...
Lol sorry Mighty I didn't know you were setting a trap.. I was just appalled at how naive his comment was and felt compelled to put him on blast..
I'm glad he was able to man up and admit his mistakes but then I read this line.
"There were times when I wanted to strike out at these animals and humiliate them, hurt them back twice as hard"
That pretty much sums up why he was even in the position to begin with.. He's a spiteful human being with no regards for anyone elses opinion but demands people respect his opinions.
I don't feel sorry for someone that maintains ...
@Death "but Knack is his first game he created. We have yet to see how he does on that side of game development."
Please tell me you are joking? Cerny's first game was marble madness way back in the 80' he's also worked on Sonic the hedgehog 2, crash bandicoot, ratchet and clank, the first uncharted, hell even resistance! Cerny is one of the most experienced programmers in the business today.. Your dismissal of him is insulting and shows how little you ...
Agreed. I know that I am. I have AC4:BF pre ordered for my PS4 and have been fighting the urge to get it on my PS3..
I completely agree except its not a "next gen" system. Its on par with what the PS3 and 360 could do and really offers nothing outside of first party franchises that can't be had on the other two established systems..
I started gaming on Nintendo consoles. In fact my all time favorite system is the SNES. I recently bought a SNES from someone for $100. It came with two controllers and 50+ games.
But sadly Nintendo being so stuck in their ways and always trying to add their own quirky twist to their products have created this reality for themselves.. Instead of making the Wii U back in 2005 like they should have and exposing their brand of HD gaming to the core they bet on casuals.. It was ...
One can't help but think that if they took some of the absurd amount of money they spend on marketing stunts like this and put it into oh I don't know maybe some first party studios that maybe they wouldn't be having so much bad publicity heading towards launch?? Just a thought.
