It's confirmed, MS is buying the rights to Star Wars. F EA.
Jznrpg - it happens both ways, dude. Just like with Insomniac and Spiderman. Sony buys games, too. It doesn't matter how you get exclusives - that's just made up fanboy talk. An exclusive is an exclusive. Make it, buy it, doesn't matter. A lot of the IPs these companies are making are new, under MS.
Darkrider - I don't know about sales figures; however, I bought Hogwarts Legacy on the PS5 due to the extra mission and costumes. I was getting the game anyway, so extra content is obviously the way to go.
Something Sony must have paid for, no?
Minute man - MLB is not a great example of this. It's not Sony being the nice guy, like "here have this game, on us!" It's the MLB wanting the game to be not exclusive to one system.
Asplundh - but, Xbox is not the one buying Zenimax - Microsoft is. So comparing the two in this instance as just Xbox and Playstation doesn't really make sense.
True, I don't think it'd be a realistic option - just curious what would or could happen. MS could save several billion, though, on the total buyout and spend multi-millions on exclusivity for a few years. Would that not have the same result? Many people hopping ship to pickup CoD on the XBSX?
Activision and share holders would still get their cut from the exclusivity deal, MS gets the CoD franchise only on their console. Win win for them?
Who knows? Cyberpunk allowed me to change the dudes schlong size..
S2K - What EXACTLY is MS doing to the industry that you despise so much? Please share your thoughts..
You just now despise MS and Xbox? Bro, who you lying to - you been hating on MS and Xbox for yeeeeeeears.
Your mad because the are attempting to buy a company and are calling in people/companies that could possibly aid them in doing so? If the FTC and the UK's counterpart are fighting it - should they just be "okay, okay, you win!" Nah, that's stupid.
Y'all mad for what reason? They are trying to build a bigger better brand and y'...
So, just out of curiosity.. if MS' deal doesn't go through, what's stopping Activision-Blizzard just making Call of Duty exclusive to XBox or selling the individual IP to MS? If Bobby, the CEO, gets miffed with Sony - couldn't he "take it out on" Sony? It's his company and he can do what he wants, to an extent, no?
Bully was one of my favorite games. There is plenty of room for growth and expansion of that series. Hopefully they revisit it soon..
Why was it canceled?
I did the online quiz and got sorted to Hufflepuff - so that's where I went. 🤷♂️
Darkrider - What's the real difference? Does it really matter if it's a publisher with 4/5 studios or Sony buying 5 individual studios?
It's the same amount of studios, regardless. Just because Destiny is on both systems, doesn't mean that will always be the case nor does it mean any new game from them will, either.
But it's not always "just a videogame." For some of these streamers - it's their livelihood. Getting the views/watchers on Twitch.
But, Sony has been buying tons of gaming companies, too.
Hofstaderman - You sound bitter, my man. Chill out, take a chill pill and go play a video game.
Microsoft currently owns a total of 23 game studios. Sony currently owns 21 game studios. However, Microsoft picked up 8 with just the Zenimax acquisition and 3 with the Activision acquisition. Previous to the acquisitions, MS only owned 12 gaming studios.
Honestly, these moves just makes MS more competitive with Sony - as far as 1st party studios go.
What's the difference, really, with MS buying Activision and Blizzard compared to Sony buying Insomniac, Bungie, Housemarque, Blueprint Games and others just over the past two years? Sony has acquired 11 studios over the last two years.
Microsoft has acquired Zenimax (has 8 studios) and Activision (owns 3 studios) over the past two years.
They have both bought 11 studios over the past two years. That's not counting how many companies Sony has boug...
That's brutal; he'll be paying for life unless he has one helluva good paying job.
