Super Mario World for the following reasons
1) had the stone-age environment feel to it which was unique.
2) has the best play mechanics of any Mario game. You could launch yourself off Yoshi's back, throw shells vertically, fly with the cape, spin jump, and there was no delay while running like in NSMB
3) Color coded Yoshi's and corresponding Koopa shells added great variety to how you went through levels. Yoshi felt like a companion and not like a to...
