He didn't say "highest settings", and he said "current games", well, the 1080 Ti will play most current games at 4k/60fps, most of them at highest settings. Probably wont be the case with the latest crop of gaming coming out soon (ACOdyssey, BF5, etc).
Crapwear is a problem, but you can get around that with better filters, user reviews, word of mouth, etc. I don't see it being nearly as big of an issue as people make it seem.

Knock it down to 1600p and turn on more graphics options and a better frame rate and I would be happy.
I don't need prettier graphics. ACOrigins and other games this year looked fantastic. We need more special effects, physics, etc now.

So, Horizons Zero Dawn, Bloodborne, God of War, Infamous Second Son, The Last Guardian, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Ratchet and Clank, Last of Us, Detroit Become Human, Gran Turismo are just graphics and hype?

I think From Software is working on a new Tenchu game, which makes sense. If you look at the old youtube trailers for it, the gameplay is somewhat similar to dark souls, with some cool twists (grapple for instance, stealth mechanics, etc).
