Well the only way SEGA could become competitive again is 3rd party support, plus mind-blowing exclusives. A new Sonic game isn't exactly a mind blowing exclusive (not anymore that is).
Secondly they have to match the online offerings of XBL and PSN. PSN being free, and XBL being a premium service. And not only that, but it would at least have to have much more advanced hardware than the PS3/360.
But having more advanced hardware = more costs, and more costs = longe...

Well Microsoft is pretty arrogant for putting that at E3. However, Hirai's comments are a bit arrogant too, but one part of it makes sense. By "this generation" does Microsoft mean 5 years? 10 years? If Microsoft's 360 outsells Sony in 10 years, then yes. Hirai has to eat his own words and MS prevails.
But who honestly can look that far in the future? Not even Sony or Microsoft can predict such things.
So in conclusion, both are arrogant.

Yeah that's one badass in-game footage. Looks up to par and better than Killzone 2. Especially the water effects.
The only thing that bothers me though is it's a bit inconsistent with the other levels. Hopefully the Chicago section gets more polished before release.

If they would have just made the Wii with hardware that supports 720p graphics and is powerful enough to run mid-end PS3/360 games. Then they would have much more 3rd party support and sales. Not only will they dominate the casual market (just like they are doing now) but they will also attract hardcore gamers.
Imagine in an alternate reality where GTA IV, DMC4, and hell maybe even FFXIII was on the 720p Wii. They would dominate the entire market.
