If you guys want a GOOD Sonic game thats newer, you really need to play the Sonic Advance and DS games. Those actually make improvements on the old games, and don't fall flat.

Thats why 3D gaming is really more suitable for handhelds, because they're self contained units. The problem with 3D gaming today is that you need to buy a new expensive TV for it, and there's not many gamers with 3D TVs. But if you can buy a handheld that has the 3D display contained all in one, then anyone who buys the console has a 3D display and developers can develop with 3D in mind.

I'd say the price is fair at 249.99. You're getting a glasses free 3D...

@Adrela Its not about giving away stuff for free. It's about them gouging consumers. Nobody expects MS to give them a high five and a free copy of Halo Reach. However, if a developer releases FREE add-ons, MS sees that as a wasted potential to nickel and dime consumers. It's bad business, especially when the DEVELOPER AND PUBLISHER wishes for their content to be free. And no, that doesn't "hurt" your business. It's more costly to upset customers, especially fo...

I'm not defending Square, but aside from the close up of his face, the rest is clearly real time footage. It's really not hard to tell CG apart from real time. Seeing the animations is enough.

I'll hold my breath. Because XIII turned out to be completely different than expected when it released in Japan.

I'd love to be pleasantly surprised though. I just don't want to be let down yet again.

I will say though that, yes I'm glad they're bringing back a world map, however I was hoping for something more like a traditional JRPG, or at least like Dragon Quest 8. I don't want a Fallout or Oblivion style world map. It looked lik...

Agreed, true gaming is about GAMES. True gaming is done where ever great games are found. A platform snob is not a true gamer, end of story.

Yea I'm not surprised much either.

You know, watching gameplay footage of Resident Evil and looking at the graphics engine has actually impressed me more than running the Epic Citadel tech demo on my iPhone 4. Epic Citadel IS impressive, but its just a tech demo and theres no effects happening. When it reveals a big open space the framerate drops. While Resident Evil has shown us gameplay and what the 3DS can do, like the shadowing and lighting effects, specular highligh...

You're right, its not 2006, which should mean it would actually be cheaper in 2010 because we had a stronger economy and consumers had a higher propensity to consume back then. Companies don't price new tech products at higher price points during recession because these types of products are luxury goods. They keep prices the same.

For the last time....the Yen is strong while the dollar is weak right now, which makes the currency conversion appear inflated. And tha...

Well geez, I guess Capcom and all the other developers who actually HAVE 3DS development kits and have been working on it themselves are just sheep? Because I seem to recall the actual developers praising the 3DS' capabilities, not just the fanboys. In case you didn't read the article, this guy from Epic admitted that he doesn't have any hardware and doesn't know what the specs are.

But none of that is even relevant. Specs don't matter, results do. And...

FFX and KH were Squaresoft games. And then FF12 and KH2, under Square Enix, weren't as good as their preceding games.

This is what happens when competitors merge. And this is why competition is good. Squaresoft and Enix should have never merged, they were the two titans in Japan for RPGs and competed heavily against each other. Take away that competition, turn them into just one giant corporation, the result is nothing but trash with corporate idiots like Wada setting...

Microsoft just doesn't know how to operate efficiently and profitably anymore these days. They venture out into different things, and every time can't turn it into profit. Especially with the Xbox brand being strong and selling well, they still cannot operate efficiently enough to be profitable. Sony has been able to turn the Playstation business profitable once again, even after all the losses they initially had with PS3. The only things that really contribute to MS profits are t...

@Abizzel

Wow. Japan "modernized" game design more than anybody else. The impact of the PS1/n64 era of game design still apply to "modern" games. The foundations of the PS1/PS2 are practically the modern game industry, in terms of gameplay and game production. The only thing thats changed with this generation in terms of "modernizing," is more hollywood style production values and less emphasis on creative unique game design and more emphasis ...

I didn't like 12 much either, but I at least can say that 12 was a much better game. Much more well made, better game design, better gameplay, better storytelling and character development. Whether or not you enjoyed it is different from the quality of it. Even though 12 had less story, it was told much better. 13 had some of the cheesiest most terrible plot and character development, at times it made me cringe. Like, cheesier than the lake scene in FFX.

Squaresoft merging with Enix was a bad idea.

Damn you Spirits Within! If you didn't bomb so bad, none of this would have ever happened, and Sakaguchi would still be there making awesome FF titles.

Agreed. However, I'm a little disappointed EA caused all this commotion only to back down at the last second. Kind of cowardly in my opinion, and it makes it seem like it was purely a publicity stunt.

But it's even more pathetic that people are so offended by a title, and by changing that enemy's title now all of a sudden they're no longer offended. Thats pathetic. People are such tools. This country is filled just with oversensitive snobs.

Wow, this comparison is retarded. The "n64" version is clearly run through an emulator, which has a much higher resolution than normal, which makes it look much more crisp.

I can't even wait until February, forget a redesign.

As far as being more powerful than PSP, not sure if the polys are really much higher, but the gpu certainly utilizes more modern graphical techniques that the PSP lacks.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Square made him do this, Square seems to be heading this direction with things recently. Honestly, because they usually sell more copies in Japan if they release on a handheld, and it costs significantly less to develop.

And to be honest, I really wouldn't mind one bit if it was a 3DS game. The graphics are certainly good enough, I'm not so sure how well the art style would translate into a super realistic graphics engine like F...

Lame article? It's simply reporting on what NOMURA said himself.....lol, and he said the "3D" in the title may imply something about the game being the third game.

5731d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Exactly. Like I've said in a couple other articles, Japan has a strong Yen while America has a weakl dollar. Which translates to Japanese prices appearing higher in US dollars. Which is NOT how companies figure their prices. Nintendo said American price would be revealed at a later time for a reason.

People just loooove to jump to irrational assumptions.
