My main complaint with the game has absolutely nothing to do with being linear. I could care less. My first playthroughs are ALWAYS main story and sidequests will be done on a second playthrough. My main complaints with the game have to do with just about everything else in the game.
To be honest, if you're a FF fan who's been playing it for a while, and you don't see any flaws in the game (linear argument put aside), then I'm not sure what to say. I think the terrible dialog...
I don't agree with a 4/10, however I do agree with a lot of the points brought up in the review. I would probably rate it a 7/10 because its not like this game is a pile of trash, but it does have issues we shouldn't be seeing from a team that used to make the industry standard in JRPG epics.
This game has some very serious problems with dialogue, character development, interactions, storytelling, PACING, and a lot of serious flaws in the battle system. This review points out a...
Lol him ripping on Natal is priceless. Yet very true.
Well Call of Duty Nazi Zombies is already on the iPhone, and the controls actually work pretty well. You obviously need to get used to them, but once you do it actually can be pretty fun. Certainly for just a cellphone. All just depends on whether the devs take the time to perfect the controls.
Yes, they were part of MOH before. Actually, the majority of Infinity Ward is the team that created Medal of Honor Allied Assault on PC. They left soon after that game and made COD1.
Yea, but if you look through the entire list, you'll actually find some older crap games in there. Wii games too, which are only 50. There is Mario Galaxy and Smash bros brawl in the list, so getting 40 bucks for those two games, which are like 2 years old, is actually a pretty good deal. I'm gonna be trading those two in for GOW3.
If the Japanese wouldn't worry so much about Americans, and stayed focused on bringing their unique culture and signature to the industry, then Japanese games wouldn't have taken a dive this generation. They've obsessed themselves so much about trying to change their style, and it hasn't worked out well for them. MGS4 and Mario Galaxy were both games that retained their Japanese culture and design style, and both of those games are two of the best games this generation.
God oh ...
Hey well at least that means Greenberg probably visits N4G. So maybe he sees all the wonderful comments people leave about him here :P
Wow that does look pretty nice. Nice to actually see a more varied color palette as well. Lets see some character models though, thats not really UE3's strong point.
Wow, so even Kitase seems to have forgotten Final Fantasy's roots...
FF13 was Squares last chance for me, I told myself if they failed with this game that I'd give up on them entirely. Lets just say I'm not so optimistic about FFVS13 anymore.
The battle system in 13 is pretty damn awesome and the graphics are gorgeous, but everything else about the game just makes me cringe at times. The character interactions so far have been downright terrible and corny as hel...
Ateanboy, you're the stupid one if you think anyone is going to read all that.
I'm sure a lot of the FF devs at Square might even feel the same way and would have done things a little differently given creative freedom, but their hands are currently tied. Wadas failed obsession with trying to westernize their games is completely unnecessary and has destroyed almost every single Squaresoft and Enix game series. Why can't he realize that Final Fantasy became successful for being a great game with their unique Japanese style. They don't need to specifically appeal to th...
Hmm after watching the trailer, I'll admit the graphics do look quite nice. Certainly a notch above MW2. Not quite KZ2 though. The character models still don't even come close.
Edge = bunch of angry trolls
Lol @ Greenberg sounding like a straight up Microsoft PR machine.
Kain81s videos pretty much should shut up all the Natal cheerleaders.
Once they actually TRY on and see just how incredibly clumsy it is to try and knock down items in a 3D space with NO PHYSICAL FEEDBACK whatsoever, they might realize how impractical Natal is.
And I bet these are the same MS fanboys that were ragging on the iPhone when it first came out about having no physical keyboard. Its funny how quick they change their minds about how important some kind of p...
Remember when the industry used to be about pushing boundaries and creating the absolute best game possible? And knowing that sales would sort of gravitate towards these kinds of games that pushed the envelope? Yea those were good times.
I seem to remember a certain company called Squaresoft that rejected the Nintendo 64 for their new game called "Final Fantasy VII" because they were not willing to compromise on their vision they had for the game. And the Nintendo 64...
So basically what he's saying is "go buy a ps3"
nice one Microsoft
"Final Fantasy heroes have traditionally been effeminate males, but XIII flips that tradition on its head by introducing the series' first female lead, Lightning."
Really? Whatever you say Yahoo.
Ummm wow dude you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. First off, Final Fantasy 8 DID have this already. For normal attacks, if you timed it correctly, you could press O to make a stronger attack.
Also, Super Mario RPG did this, and it applied to EVERYTHING in the battle system. For attacks, special attacks, and defending yourself, you could press a button at the right time to make your move more effective. I'm pretty sure all the other Mario RPGs on GBA and DS did...
