Funny, I remember reading that Nintendo feels that ANY game that includes their characters doing things that are not normally associated with their games " a new IP". So say Mario playing skee-ball that would be a new IP in Nintendo's eyes.
Now, if they are hinting at something totally new to go along side their tried and true IP's then that would be something to see and a breath of fresh air. New HD console, so it would be nice to say "hey, this new IP...
This would interesting, maybe a separate story, like what they plan to do with Bioshock Infinite. But I want a solid story, thats key. The mechanics are solid.

You must mean expansions to games, not paying for color changes and an extra gun or horse armor.

I agree 100% with Regis and not only him, but time and again lots of people have been saying that face melting power means jack sh!t.
What matters are the games and how fun they are to play. Nintendo is right, they have a big retention rate, there hardware is solid and they have some of the most successful and versatile IP's in the business.
They are on solid ground as long as they continue to make great games. I cant stop playing my 3DS and I love my Wii...

Sometimes the very nature of Kickstarting a game or project is for the devoted fans. Its great to share, but without their support there wouldn't be any LSL reboot to criticize. There should be some praise to the Kickstart program, and the contributors as well as the devs. For bringing the best product they cold produce from planning to completion.
