The difference between HDMI and Component is MINIMAL at best. And the VGA output after the small update just after the 1080p update made a HUGE DIFFERENCE. HDMI is being pushed more to ENFORCE HDCP restriction more than ANY OTHER REASON.

Down time (especially as short as this) does not bug me. It just lets me know the XBL is being looked after and kept running smooth !!

Sharpness is not everything.Yes, some PS3 images are sharper, but I also find the PS3 images more washed out. Sharpness and resolution is not the be all and end all.
Look at a Plasma TV, they look VERY VERY GOOD and many say they look the best even though they are a lower res (1366x768) to the 1080p stuff (1920x1080)
Now, why is that .... CONTRAST RATIO .... a level of contrast also has a HUGE IMPACT on how good or bad something looks. And to me, NOT ALL, but som...

As luck would have it (or bad luck) my launch 360 just sh!t the bed on me tonight.
Fact is , I still love my 360 and have way to many games. It would be crazy for me to NOT get a new one. Now I really want to see the new console AND the drop in price on the premium.
Then again I could just get a Core and stick my HD on it !! VGA still give me full 1080p

Why would any early adopters be pissed?? I have been getting hours and hours out of my LAUNCH 360 and must say that it is the best console to date I have had (starting way back with the Atari 2600). I mean after having a blast since Nov 2005, man oh man ... this machine has payed for itself 10 times over with beer and friends I have had great times with either at my house or over live !!
HDMI is nice, but my Sammy DLP and 1920x1080 over ...

I buy games I will get the most bang for my buck out of. And for me "ONLINE" with friends rules over all.
So let's say I have two games I really like and want to buy but can only get one (usually I will buy both, but just for example) I will go with the one my other friends have since I love XBL with friends I know rather than the open public which is riddled with idiots.
.... and for what Live gives me .... it is worth EVERY SINGEL DOLLAR !!!
If they lower the price or get make it free, I will not complain ... but I also see it becoming watered down.
If it stays the way it is and improves over time (as it has been doing), the price is a none issue for the product !!

Not sure about your house, but once my gear is connected ... they stay connected.

DLP and games are FRIGGEN AWSOME !!
I am a HUGE Samsung Fan since the VGA accepts full 1920x1080, the HDMI inputs accept 1080p "AND" the component inputs also accept 1080p.
Unlike some other sets, the Sammy also does not crush or muddy colors over VGA ... actually I find the VGA looks much sharper than component on the Sammy DLP set.
DLP bulbs on Samsung (which you will need about every 3 years depen...
