I tend to view them as 2 things that share the same name and nothing else. That way they don't tarnish each others credibility.

Hey the graphics are a huge leap from the first games horrible looking console port. Still played it to death though.

Just realised these guys really need to do some more research as Far Cry 3 was delayed a little over a month ago.
They call it FIFA but then put the US release date.
Finally the fact they even put a release on GTA is incredible.
AC3 will be good as long as they actually innovate.
Far Cry 3 seems to have sorted its self out to be a great looking shooter.
GTA 5 may be toned down if released this gen thus disappointing everyone.
Halo 4 will be sensational.
Resident Evil 6 has a high risk of disappointing lots but I'm still preordering.
Bioshock is on Half life tier of incredible imo.
Borderlands 2 will be truly hilarious.

The impression I get from the Playstation camp is Xbox has a failure rate of 101% and PS3 has 0%. I think people are clutching on the launch problems 360 for much to long.
Portal_2 It sounds like your trying to describe the Games for Windows Live service that Microsoft have. Which I believe was unfairly scrutinised and now has had all of its games integrated into Steam such as GTA IV, AoE Online and Microsoft Flight.

I think Sony have left it too late in the consoles life. The Xbox Slim was pretty much perfectly timed. It just feels too close to next gen for such a big re-release.
In other news EA announced the Battlefield 4 then denied and then re-announced it. EA sort yourself out cause your giving away all of your own surprises.
