The notion that retailers would stop selling the xb 360 is down right ridiculous, Australia has been a good market in the past for Microsoft.
If there is any trueth in tis claim it is concerning the arcade SKU.
Retailers make money buy selling games not consoles, the fact is that xbox 360 owners tend to buy more games, if this is due to the price point or the library is a different point.
They do got a point, but it won't happen in the near future. discs or other media storage devices, will keep the way games will be sold for at least 10 years. Even though games like war-hawk etc are selling their games online. Expect games to see an exponential growth in the size of games at the ps3 front (might or might not be caused by multiple copy files on the same disc).
I agree that Launching a new SKU would be a good idea. But not only a sku which adjusts the content of the box but a smaller version xb360 something in line sony did with the ps2.
This happening the comming 1-2 years is not very likely since for MS mass producing their current design is ofcourse cheaper than mass producing a new design.
The best option for Microsoft is just reducing the price (if the sale number of the xbox 360 can't keep pace with the ps3)

There aresome valid points in the article. Even though don' t think the diferences etc is as large as the writer claims.
He even goes out of his way to say that the ps3 version will be more expensive because of the higher power consumption of the ps3.
Either way the "better" version will be the xb360 version simply because the xb was the lead platform. Saying otherwise would just be plain stupid.
A 40 % increase in sales is enormous, for any company esspecially when they predicted an increase of only 20%.
Simply put most retailers (can't bounce for all) do got xbox360's but alot of them have not been able to buy more stock of xb360's.
Simply because microsoft can't deliver it if they haven't.
This influenced their february numbers.
Install base numbers is something entirely different.
Lowering the cost even more has always been the plan, the timing is simply a method to try to get costumers who are doubting between the xb and ps to go for the xb.

Totally agree, but even though as a side note:
-Last few years online play has boomed and increased overall value of games (in hours)
-There are a few examples of games which are relativey long games with next generation graphics and more to come
So what´s next the apple multi media - game console
no major exclusives, but betetr than not having these games not exclusve for Microsoft
It is sad that a producer wines about people buying games like wii fit and not his Valkyria Chronicles, complain to your marketing manager about that problem. It is not like I was planning to buy Valkyria Chronicles, but my mother might consider Wii fit not sure about my girl friend or sister though.
But then agin should we still call Wii fit a game and not more a training program, migth end up in the gym.

lol I also played the demo but in all means there are a plethora of other war shooting games, which ar far better than this on. I liked the concept, but the demo totally ruined it for me esspecially since the intro demod the bad story.
I mean common how could they not see this large of a army of planes and blimps comminc, blimps aren't that fast. So what would I be doing on a scycraper when I know a large army is invading america.

Difference between xbox360 is that they needed to upgrade their sku's due to high failure rates. Last thing I heard Thei' re now going to further upgrade their upgraded console propably also aiming to better the reliability of their consoles. Ps3 had it wright in the beginning it is a shame to kept on tinkerng with the sku's just reducing the prices would have been fine
For as far as I know the game can even appear on the ps 1, fairly downgraded but still.
Also the game coming to an other console for example the xbox 360 is not far fetched. A game with a whopping 50 gb isn´t cheap. They might need to bring i to an other platform to pay everybodies salaries.

I don't get it when people get upset over the possible launchdate of new game console if you think it is too early don't buy it. Everybody knows that launching the succes of the xbox 360 before the ps4 has been a part of microsoft strategy from the beginning.
Nokia's n gage has not been a large success and sony's psp success is somewhat limited, but the concept of a phone/ game machine I believe is a concept with huge potential.
The sony ericson phone is a large/huge threat for nokia's n-gage, since sony already got the wright contacts for the software part.
