It is a good thing they did, because it is easy to see that developers whould eventually have forced them. Within that respect Microsft made a good choice selecting a faster drive, thouhg lower capacity.
one of the biggest problem with the xbox was that most people bought it for bungie- and not for rare games.
The audience for rare games simply wasn't there. They would have been far more successful if they had stayed with nintendo.
Though when looking at the strategic implications of acquiring rare I would say it was a very good move of Microsoft acquiring rare. Esspecially if they want to reach the same audience as Nintendo no other studio could have been a better choise. ...
Id rage-engine was build with the ability of simultaneous development for the ps3 and xbox 360.
The game has not been reduced in size since they where developed simultaneously. Though they had 2 options using 2 disks for the xbox 360 thus allowing a higher resolution or 2 disk forcing them to slightly reduce resolutions. The difference might not even be noticed if you won't have a 1080P tv.
Halo wars,
Halo interactive board game,
Halo (partnership with peter jackson)
makes three
I think "darwin" controller from motus games looks cooler.
Sony does have a history of overpromising. I still remember the launch of the ps3, which was a disaster and prime example of sonys overpromising. Though it definetly is looking like sony is bettering itself. Looking at games like killzone 2 and sackboy
But on the other hand where is the xbox live everywhere something experience?
If you could hook up a key bord to the xb360 I might have cared.
Both have too much games esspecially considering I only buy 1 game a month, not considering arcade titles.
If so Microsoft propably will have a good reason. They will certainly not dump their ip or skilled personel.
Furthermore rare plays a important role in their strategy for obtaining a broader market. Also considering the history of the brand Rare is very unlikely that they wil disband rare.
I beleve that the Rare studios won't be disbanded but instead will be invested in. Continuing what they have been doing making games which have a more mass market appeal and expanding h...
I give them kudos for trying something different than exploiting the already existing franchise, which would have been a much saver bet.
But if they believe the game is better of this way, I will wait and see if they where wright.
Guess that the rumor could be true, though this rumor might be too big too be true. Don't have any expentations otherwise you might get dissapointed
not only a dashboard upgrade, read first then comment
The first price cut was initially rumored to be a 100$ dollar price cut, instead it was 50$, simply because they had nothing to worry about. This 2nd price cut of also 50$ brings the total to 100$. Doesn't smell like desperation.
Also looking at the attach rates of i believed was 7 games per consoles for the xbox 360 is a clear indication that there are other games than halo 3 on the xbox.
Selling the console at a lower price was always the plan, that's why Microsoft...
200 dolars might be the magic price but as long as it isn't for the premium model I don't think the impact will be that great.
Think it is a logical step for them to reach a broader audience,
despair is the pricing of the xb360 in Japan
It is impossible for ps3 to take the xbxox 360 2nd place in 2008, even though they are outselling the xbox 360, the difference is still too small to make a large difference 2009 might be different, unless microsft has a few surprisses left.
Furthermore when looking at the top 10 articles of sold game products/games in europe ps3 is still hard to find in the top 10 compared to the wii and xbox360, which is a clear indication that the market is still up to grap for both parties an...
Since the ps3 gained in value with great titles like mgs 4 and upcomming titles. It is obvious that microsoft would lower the price, something which has always been in the planning, though surprised that it took such a long time.
"although they are near the top, games will continue to get better and better on the 360 over the next few years as developers learn new tricks and wrinkles"
Though what also should be questioned is if games will continue to get bigger or may start reaching their limit in the price/quality aspect which is mentioned in the bonusround (26) of gamtrailers.com
Aren't there any videos of the demo floating around somewhere ?
The banjo name is propably good enough too sell a bunch of copies.
The low pricing in America (not europe) won't hurt the sales either.
Hope the game won't suck , think it will be an average game, will have to wait and see .
