Because they want to show off the tech on a mainstream press conference that millions of people watch. But it does not even connect to an xbox. Its a stand alone device.
Hololens has NOTHING to do with Xbox. It's a completely separate platform and being made for a completely different application other than games.
Sure, there is going to be games for it, but games are not the main focus. It's more for the design, and medical industries. The price is also NOT going to be consumer friendly (Over $1000 per unit).

More than likely you'll have to stay connected to their servers because of the loot system. You can probably join other players with your character at any time so this is a way to combat cheaters and hackers.
The advantage The Division has over Destiny is that Ubisoft was able to see what happened to Destiny and learn from its' mistakes.
I would suggest to everyone to wait and see the health of the servers on launch day first before buying this game. If history tells us anything about online only games, they tend not to work well during launch week.
If reports say that everything is smooth as butter and not to many people are having connection problems, then by all mean jump in the pool. Though I would wait for the chlorine tests to finish first before taking the plunge since this game is online only.
Shuhei Yoshida was quoted saying in an interview with KindaFunny that they are selling the PSVR at a profit. Reason being they manufacture all the expensive components themselves (not outsourcing like oculus).
