It won't become popular if nobody buys it. We have to jump in first.
That's the thing though. Us the consumers need to support it first for devs to get onboard and make stuff for it. They will not show interest unless it sells. Sorry to say (cause it sucks that it's like this) but we have to be the ones to act first for VR to take off. We have to buy it.
Move and kinect did not deliver what was promised. VR is different in that it is as good as people say. Owing two VR HMDs myself.
I own both a Oculus DK2 and a Gear VR. Do not right off VR until you have tried it yourself. You can not possibly understand what it like by watching a video of seeing someone else play it.
VR is an experience that will change the way you think of entertainment. I recommend playing Dreadhalls, Affected, and GTA V in VR.
Every single person that I have had try it has left wanting to buy one themselves. A few have bought a DK2 already.

.... or just pay $20. -_- I hate gaming now I think.
It was summer in 1992 and my local mall arcade had a prototype fighting game called Mortal Kombat(I live near Chicago). All the big kids were crowded around it laughing and yelling. It was pretty scary for me. I was 6 at the time.
My older cousin brought me up to the crowd and I remember hearing him say, "Oh wow, it looks so real!"
Of course, that made me want to see what the fuss was about. I was able to see the screen between a few bodies. to my...
Oh man... WHAT HAVE WE DONE?!?!
I already have one (got in from Samsung's website). Its pretty awesome. Especially the 360 degree VR videos.
I bought my Xbox One specifically to play Halo MCC (among other future exclusives too). Everything else I play on PS4 or PC.
Most traded in game in history by the end of next week is what I'm expecting the next headline to be. It's Titanfall all over again.
I have been seeing this too from what twitch streams I have been watching today.
People were enjoying themselves starting out, but about the 6-8 hour in, I was starting to clearly see a difference in the way they were commenting about the game. Most started complaining about dull boss fights or over-powered items that seem to make them Invincible where all the "out of mission" enemies became a nuisance more than a challenging/fun opponent.
From what I have seen, two of my friends with early copies have been playing since 9am CST. They are both at level 18 right now. They level cap is 20. So yeah you can cap in a day. That is REALLY short for a MMO.
*EDIT after speaking with them on PSN* Judging by this and also they said that virtually they have seen every type of mission and enemy by level 14 (the gameplay according to them started to repeat itself at that point). This game has no long lasting appeal. Sounds t...
AHHHHHHHHH!
All aboard the HYPE train WOOWOO!!!
0.0 MIND BLOWN!!! I have a rift too. Somebody do this right now!!!
That's one big reason I want it too. Watch tv and movies in a simulated movie theater with my headphones on.
Hell, play games like that too if i don't want to have my head movement to get tracked.
My top 5 list for this gen (no order):
- Lost Odyssey
- Skyrim
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Fallout 3
- Mass Effect Trilogy
Honorable mentions: Blue Dragon, Dragon Age Origins, Tales Of Vesperia, Ni No Kuni, and Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion
I have this 1Tb HDD in my PS4 right now. It works great and it's faster than the stock HDD (better load/install times).
