Shit like this precisely what drove MS to create the Xbox in the first place. Seriously as the platform owner they get more flak from the public and developers than anyone else. For example Goolge, Apple and Steam are doing the same thing, if not worst, but does anyone complain and cry about monopoly? Nope.
High and low res textures is something that all devs have already. This is a none issue and since the console tech turns are so much slower than the PC.
With this brilliant logic the mobile gaming and the PC economy should have be caving in any minute now due to fragmentation.
Oh wait, the iOS Game of War made 1 billion last on year in revenue and Steam made over 8 billion.
This is nothing more than fanboy fear mongering that have absolutely nothing with the truth.
Shorter product cycles and a persistent platform makes sense. This business model made Apple, Google and Microsoft billions upon billions of dollars.
The current console business model of obliterating your platform every product cycle makes zero sense and can cause sink or swim situation as experienced by both Sony with their PS3 and now MS with their Xbox One.
It's about time someone in the console industry realized this. Its aslo a huge win for console...
You like how introducing a PS4 while the PS3 is still around doesn't cause fragmentation?
Nope. This is the future. They're building a platform, one that don't have to destroy every generation. It's smart.
Aside from the Halo brand what's unique about Halo Wars is the gamepad RTS implementation. When you bring this to a platform that is dominated by KB/mouse the game's biggest strength goes down the drain.
The PC owns this genre of games. Why would PC gamers care about Halo Wars when there's so many options available on the PC?
I just bought it. Good job N4G!
Xcom 2 is extremely mod dependent which is probably why it launched as a PC exclusive. There's a mod to address every flaw, every content gap and every quirk. After finishing the game on the default Commander settings then playing my second campaign with mods, I dare say that this game is a complete waste of money without mods.
Pffftt. 100 million? Thats small time.
Konami is probably is probably lured by the undeniable success of Games of War which generates a million a day in sales. That's right, ONE MILLION $$ in app purchases a day. At few years ago Game of War nearly peaked 1 billion revenue for the year. No AAA console game will ever be this profitable. Never. The only games to approach this sort of money is League of Legends and DoTA 2 on the PC.
As a developer, gotta be...
Lets put this in perspective.
Dark Souls 3 can be preorded for $35.
Xcom 2 can be bought for $35.
Raise of The Tomb Raider $35.
For the console the price increase is cringe worthy but it's not like you have options. But for PC gamers the price increase doesn't make any sense. You get two DLCs that are basically paid mods and one DLC campaign for $50. Sounds like the best option for PC gamers is the skip the season pass and buy the DLC...
Until you tried Warthunder with the OR you have no idea what VR can do. Everything else is a toy compared to this. The feeling of being inside the cockpit and depth to the gaming world is indescribable.
But aside from cockpit games I don't know how VR can contribute to other gaming genres.
Hey look it's another AAA DLC platform.
I know plenty of people who prefers Xbox One over the PC or PS4. Some simply do not want to switch to a different ecosystem. Others prefers a bigger controller. None of them cares about exclusives because like most gamers they spend all their time playing multiplats like CoD, Fallout 4 and Destiny.
So if Sony release Bloodborne for the PC, which should easily be able to run this game at 60 FPS thats good news because of more sales right? Right?
Oh yeah this is N4G.
The Panthers limited the entire Broncos to just slightly above 200 yards. They did their job. Cam just choked and gave away the game.
I have never played a strategy game where the choices are so agonizingly difficult because you essentially need everything but you can only choose one path.
Now combine this with the fact that I'm playing on ironman where every single choice, every single step matters. Dark Souls and Bloodborne is a cakewalk compared to this.
I just can't believe Nintendo took over Bayonetta. What a great character. She's essentially what Lara Croft used to be before the femini Nazis took over.
Other zombie games should just give up now. Dying Light is just too good at what it does.
I have no idea why Tom Clancy is still being used as a brand by Ubisoft. The guy have been dead for 3 years now and The Division is completely unrelated to any of his IPs.
