The Killer, why are you comparing a social app to an online gaming system? Honestly, fanboys.
The PS3 is without doubt a great piece of hardware with an expanding software library, however, I fear a lot of damage has been done, perhaps too much to catch up with the 360 within 3 years. The key factor was (arguably is) price, especially in a worldwide economy, no thanks to the greedy fat cats of the cursed capitalism system.
All that doesn't matter to me though, what does is the games, and of this I have no fear, 2009 looks to be another great year for PS3 owners.
I'm 100% sure Square Enix won't mess this one up. They can release as many trashy 360 exclusives as they want, but as long as Final Fantasy is great, I can forgive them. FF Vs XIII looks dammed incredible though, I like how it's based on reality.
I have to be very honest, I'm quite sceptical of how launching a party into a game will work, mainly due to the lack of unification of PSN. Each game is different online, I don't see it launching hitch free, mainly because it's a challenging feature to add, and because it's for the PS3. Don't flame, but SONY have promised a lot and failed to deliver on several fronts so far this generation.
thereaeprsson, what do you understand about a total lack of preparation?
I have a lot of trouble connecting to Home, as are several of my friends. I know this is a beta, but this issue is due to a lack of preparation, SONY were aware how many people would want to try out Home and they failed to provide enough servers.
However, Home itself has far exceeded any expectations I had for it, for this I commend you SONY.
Darksniper, your comments seem to be encroaching on facts and figures recently, compared to your previous tendency to state opinions. Now, it must be said, many of these 'facts' and figures are blatantly incorrect. Such as your install base claim, I don't think anyone is silly enough to truthfully say the PS3 has sold more than the 360. It's simply not true.
You do realise Tekken 6 has been available in arcades for the best part of a year now and I very much doubt, based on previous namco arcade > console conversions, it will look much better or worse because of the Xbox 360.
Bubbles, fanboys on here seem to forget this a business like any other, and just like any other business, it's about the money first and foremost.
I expected more titles to go multi platform this generation due to increased development costs and so far that has been the case.
Besides, it's not like the game isn't coming to PS3, so why should you give a dam? I'm fully aware exclusives are nice, but you need to realise that, save for a few exceptions, the days of 3rd ...
It was planned to coincide with the weekly PSN store update, or so I believe. However, they have run into some technical hitches whilst performing testing, so back to the waiting game I'm afraid.
I'm not sure why I'm bothering replying to you as you are so set in your ways.
However, several of your points are clearly wrong.
1. "Critically acclaimed and highly touted features of PSN"
Ahem, sorry? Please enlighten me on these features, as from what I see, Live is still the leading service, by some margin, PSN is playing catch up in all areas. Private chat exists, but only between 2 people and it's poorly implemented (You have to quit to XMB and ...
Wow, I'm really surprised... Not. It seemed like a sudden decision in my opinion. Doesn't make it any less annoying however, get it sorted, and quick.
On the flipside you could argue that neither Nintendo or MS were half as arrogant as SONY were at the beginning of this generation. Right now SONY aren't quite in the position to snipe at their peers, 2009 will change that however, I'm sure of it ;)
I agree, although it would have been hard to have done worse.
And with my headset, I can talk to 7 other mates all of whom can be playing different games at the same time.... -_- I know you are excited about Home, I am too, but theres no need to bring it up in a thread about Gears of War 3.
another fanboy? what a waste of bandwidth.
Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Resistance 2, it exceeded my expectations. However, I don't think it is up to the level of Halo 3 in terms of gameplay mechanic, the controls aren't quite as tight and some of the gameplay mechanics aren't integrated as well as they could be, such as aiming down the sights. Of course, a lot of this is forgiveable for a game of its scale.
This is excellent news, not only the release of home itself, but also that it's a worldwide release, something SONY should be doing more often with their games. Thanks SONY, I look forward to trying this out tommorow.
In the UK, a Wii is £170, so for £130 more I can get a Bluray player, larger HDD, much better media capability and far greater hardware. Now, try again.
This is sad, although if that's what they want to do, why not. What;s even funnier is all the nerds on here with no hope in hell of getting a girl bashing the hell out of then.
