*Answer the question. Did consolidation hurt gamers? Yes or no?*
No it did not, and your weak comparison and example doesn't support
your question.
Why are prices still rising for consoles and games despite there being no consolidation?
No one is being ignorant, your examples and reasonings are batshit stupid and as I said before and what you have proven, it devolved into BS fanboy "MS is bad" jibberish.
We seem to be discussing two different things, either that or you're choosing to ignore the actual topic.
No one is arguing what the FTC's actual job is, the issue and topic is the FTC not performing their job and therefore wasting tax payers money, by not only loosing multiple cases but not being prepared in the case of this ABK deal and bringing weak arguments to court that even the judge said was mostly about defending Sony.
So why increase fun...
*Psygnosis is such a stupid argument.*
No it isn't a stupid argument, it's just an example of Sony doing the equivalent of what MS is doing today.
@Shinoff
*Why do you people ignore ms and all the shit they've done,*
Who's ignoring it, this site constantly brings it up every chance they can get.
*If Sony was truly in the midst of making stsrfield exclusives I definitely would of been...
*I mind very much,*
You are definitely the exception to the norm then.
@Blacktar
He's not correct, when was there ever an argument that consolidation would make things cheaper? Especially in terms of today's market where all prices are being raised, even outside of consolidation? So why would consolidation somehow be different?
*It is always the opposite because with no competition they get to dictate the price from the top down.*
But there will be competition, this is MS competing against Sony. Th...
I remember playing this and the jump scares were insane.
*Because it's literally their job to do as such.*
Okay, I get that, but it's definitely not their job to waste tax payers money on frivolous cases they can't prove or win in court! I hope we can agree with that right? The FTC, under Lina Khan, sucks at their job. This is exactly why she is being questioned about her mismanagement and her inability to regulate and enforce anit-trust laws.
*You wouldn't understand it or fain ignorance even if we did explain it. *
I swear, you guys say the same thing every, single, time.
The reason why you can't explain is because it would be nothing more than fanboy jibberish, "MS is bad, MS doesn't care about gaming, MS this, MS that." but there would be no real reason as yo what gamers would lose.
*Never has consolidation lead to lower prices.*
A...
The FTC if I recall is not only asking for more funding but lost a few cases already due to their flimsy showings. Theyre using the ABK/MS deal as just another example.
Which speaks to the point of this article.why is the FTC wasting tax payers money on arguments they can't seem to win? Especially even more with this appeal.
What's stopping Nintendo and Sony? Money, that's what.
You honestly believe this is something new that is only being practiced now?
* Sony is already looking to grab Square Enix.*
No they're not, but folks sure dont mind Sony paying Square to keep games off Xbox.
Maybe the reason these companies are being bought is because a lot of them cannot sustain themselves in today's market where game development...
Yes, but when is enough, enough?
The FTC had nothing, their case was weak, they presented very little and made arguments that they couldn't prove let alone just shined a light on what every gaming developer/publishers in the industry does and they lost.
At this point, with this particular case it does become a waste of Tax payers money.
A Horizon MMO, how very interesting. I can see Guerrilla sticking with this IP for a long time and not making anything else/
Lena Khan is currently getting rinsed right now in court. It's obvious she has no clue about what is going on the industry.
*Elimination of such a large competitor*
Exactly how would they be eliminated? They would be even more of a competitor against the largest market leader.
The only people who don't want this are sony loyalist/fanboys who still want to hold on to bragging rights of Sony having more studios. Now that MS has more there's even more potential for them to gain an advantage over Sony.
I keep reading how the deal isn't good, not one...
*So, basically guaranteed on Xbox, and in limbo for everyone else...reversed in favor of Xbox gamers.*
Yeah, I think I said just that, but also include PC gamers, and anyone with access to Game Pass which is a lot more access than what Sony provides, gatekeeping their games to one console then making their gamers wait a year for it to come to PC.
*You're deluded if you think MS made these purchases to give Sony and Nintendo players improved access*
...
@lightning
Also, people forget that one of the biggest reasons Sony entered the gaming business was out of pure spite and revenge against Nintendo.
They did everything possible (and right) to dethrone Nintendo to the point to where now Nintendo doesn't even compete in the HD console space.
343 is chasing a dream they can never achieve and frankly their caught up with a franchise they can never master. They're too afraid to try anything different and they can't stray too far from what made the game great years ago, even as outdated as it is. If and when they do something against the Halo norm then they're criticized because 1. It's too far of a departure or 2. It was just too stupid of a change.
In my honest opinion Halo needs to take a gen of...
Overwatch clone with Black Clover type heroes?
Why not?
It was definitely overrated. The problem for me was it prioritized the one camera gimmick for story telling and therefore had long drawn out scenes to get to the next chapter. Terrible decision to keep that, because it wore out it's wow factor in 2018.
It was dull, the characters were dull and the gameplay wasn't anything special.
