christ... this place is impossible.
Same article, as I posted and quoted from above... shortly after your quoted text...
"The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Minecraft will support larger worlds and more multiplayer features but to what extent has yet to be revealed."
THEY WILL NOT BE THE SAME!
"underlying code" is just that... UNDERLYING CODE!
The title of this article LITERALLY SAYS, AND I ...
@UltimateMaster
I have played it for many tens of hours on my Xbox360. I've also been keeping up with how it will be different on the Xbox One & PS4. Judging by your comment, I find it hard to believe that "YOU" have ever played it, or even regarded it with anything more than a cursory glance.
@eonjay
Yes, they say that in a few articles, right before they say "but the multiplayer will be different..."

"Minecraft PS4 Edition Same as Xbox 360"
Says where? The link goes nowhere.
Already, the Xbox360 version is different from the PC version, and the PC version will be the same as [or at least very nearly similar to] the X1 version... so I don't know where you are getting your information.

EB games will be bone dry. I bet Walmart and Bestbuy will be likewise... at least in Canada.
If I wanted one, I'd go to Toys'R'us. Nobody ever thinks to look there. That's where I got my 360 when the prospect were bleak.
Really unexpected. Why would they shortchange the PS4 version? Obviously the PS4 has the processing power to keep up with the PC/XB1 version. 8gb of ram seems like plenty for infinite worlds and MMO-style multiplayer.
The link doesn't even go anywhere.
Would like an explanation on this one? Money? Exclusivity? Minecraft is a massive draw for a lot of young people. I can see this factoring into some peoples decision making process when buying a console.
Last time I heard about it running on PS4, it was 8v8 and everyone was hating on it.
not saying that's a bad thing. I find with Battlefield games in particular that a lot of work gets done in the months/weeks/days leading up to release. Dice really likes to hold out until crunch time to do all the refinement. Their Beta test periods are usually atrocious.
I have it in good faith that the game will run splendidly on both consoles.
First time I saw the demo, I was very impressed. Then, a few months later, they said something to the tune of "$3000 setup".
Not exactly realistic, but they have been forthcoming about that. If ever the price comes down, consider me extremely interested.
Thats why I say cautious optimism. I don't expect success, but I refuse to dismiss everything I've heard in favour of a pessimistic standpoint.
"latency" is not the be-all-end-all death of cloud processing. There are other, clever ways that developers are learning to leverage the tech to positive effect. No reason why it can't work for certain applications.
I don't expect real time by the millisecond processing. Cautious optimism imp...
It's easy to dismiss cloud processing on the basis of latency... until it's your life's work to solve the dilemma. There are brilliant mind working tirelessly on these issues as we speak.
you don't think there's a solution? We'll, then you underestimate the ingenuity of human kind.
I choose to look forward with cautious optimism.
P90x itself isn't free. I don't see any good reason for them to give it away. This could be a really profitable package.
My girlfriend is going to love this.
My god who cares? Fact is, there will be plenty of options for recording ample amounts of footage on both consoles, however you see fit.
This is a W for all of us, not a pissing contest.
I dont see why you need to edit, rather than simply reply.
Nobody ever said that sony is relying on indie games. Does anyone around here bother to read the article, or do they read the first comment, get defensive, and give a knee jerk reaction without any consideration for the context the comment was made in?
Its like you're having a conversation with yourself. All of you.
I'll be picking up KZ and playing driveclub, as well as warfr...
Thanks for your valued opinion. I guess that I will have a PS4 on launch day makes no difference. I guess that I stated my enthusiasm for AAA games is unimportant. Just... your deranged fanboyism being projected on everyone else.
The article is about Indies, and whether or not they're enough in their own right to buy a console.
It's nice that you want it all. I want it all. I'm simply responding to the article.
I don't believe that indies are justification for a 500 dollar console. They are a great supplement, a great way to breed talent, and a desired medium for some gamers. Nobody is arguing any of that.
Hell no.
To me, indie games are like GBA games. Budget, shallow, usually side-scrollers or platformers. None of the polish and refinement that I expect when I boot up my $500 console.
If I wanted to play those types of games, I could easily do it on my crappy PC or a handheld. My console is for AAA games in all their frantic, online-focused glory.
Anyone with an Xbox360 who has seen the viddoc on Xbox Live knows how awesome that game is bound to look on the big screen. JAW. DROPPING.
I have yet to see anything comparable.
I guess the word "if" doesn't really mean much to you.
cool, bro!
I think on PS4, you can preorder and maybe even predownload to be played between midnight and 1oclock. But I might be wrong.
As for X360, not sure. I'll be waiting... and probably sleeping. Gotta work on Wednesday.
It was at least a month ago... I'm not thinking about TGS. I think it was the first time they showerd it on PS4.

Anyways, I'm getting a Day-1 edition PS4, so this is not an attack on PS4. I hate how every time I make an impartial post I have to explain that I'm not attacking anyone, in the wake of a bunch of people arguing with me.
