Here is a slight problem with it pwning blu ray, last i read(and it was a bit ago) 12-15k per player and $120 per disc. Somebody made a higher capacity disc(not exactly a brd) 500 gigs to a terabyte i think, and with slight modification to future blu ray players/readers will be playable. They also expect it to cost roughly the same as a brd.

Ever hear of physics, ai, coop, online play for a majority of games ect, those are also in addition to the better visuals and sound from ps2/xbox games.
The wii doesn't need people to defend it they have the nintendo defense force for that, and they defend it with great zeal.

I have to agree with common sense, $250 would be better spent on games people know are hardcore, even one of the other consoles.
As much as wii devs, nintendo/nintendo fans praise the wii for how cheap it is compared to ps3/360 games, where are the rpgs for the wii, where are the hack and slash action adventure games.

Not have the same level of graphics yes, it would be more than likely impossible(impossible is an absolute term, but we are dealing with reality here) with the gpu in the wii is barely better than the old xbox and inferior when it comes to shaders, no amount of optimization would be able to make up on the hardware difference.
