You have to remember that in most racers everything is exaggerated to make it sound more powerful and look more powerful. When people compare one game that is trying to exaggerate the sound to a game that is trying to mimic the real sound you have two totally different ideas and concepts. GT tries not to exaggerate their games compare to other racers, especially racers that are more arcadey.
I loved driving the slow cars, it makes it feel like I am driving my own car in a game so it feels cool taking turns because you can relate to it.

You can't just take a couple people who are whining and those whiners aren't even people who will even get the game. I got Driveclub a while ago, I have NO idea how many cars were in it but I only drove a few of them. We see this number with racing games but it is the same concept for a shooter games and they say 100 guns in the game. I am curious, I love Driveclub, I loved the arcadey with a sliver of sim in it in that game and it was difficult. I really want a new racer but one thing I really didn't like to do in GT was mess around with the engines, transmissions, tires and etc. I don't know crap about cars, so I want to race get good, get money, and buy new cars.

I went from BB/Dark Souls to the Witcher 3 and the combat/enemy AI in Witcher 3 was a joke comparatively speaking. That is also the reason why I couldn't get into Fallout or Skyrim.

I am in the same boat, I had no urge for this entry until I saw the game play videos and how different it was going to be. That is what I wanted personally from a new GOW game and they nailed it.
Spartan Rage was in previous GOW games though. I know I rarely used it because it felt cheap. I had no opinion on the QTE, I had no problem with it besides for me wanting to watch this really cool cut scenes but I can't because I need to look at the a button prompt so I don't fail.
The game isn't hard, that is the most frustration thing to hear about these articles. The developers made this game rewarding when you beat an enemy, found a shortcut or a boss.
