They said "players" not people who bought the game. So it's probably all the people who even turned on the game to try it for free and then left. 5.9 million is not really a good number so who cares?
I pre-ordered the Standard edition already. I wouldn't do it for a new IP, but for this game it's fine.

This is also the first BIG game from Xbox that is on Playstion (1st of many) and many people were wondering if they would half-ass it or go full on and support the PS5 PRO. This message is very necesary for the first big title to release from Xbox and since the PRO has been out.
