But if you're looking for official confirmation, then there is no such thing. Even the "official" NPD results are good estimates based off samples of select retail sales. And you certainly can't look at what MS, Sony, etc say they sold, because they all like to puff/deflate numbers to suit themselves.
It also didn't hurt that WaW was selling for less than Gears. I personally bought my copy on sale at Best Buy for 35$... as compared to the 60$ I would have paid for Gears 2.

I don't disagree about the older games. Much more originality and personality last gen for the most part. This gen has been mostly "upgraded sequel X".
Or just mod the box and DL all the games. Guy here in the city will do it for 30-40 bucks and charges only 5-10 bucks a game.
