I do not accept the premise of your article. The games sold millions, how is that a failure?
@EatCrow: Yeah, when you look at it like that, Crackdown and Super Mario Odyssey are basically the same game.
...alternately, there are differences in quality that should be taken into account.
Hot take.
What's a reponsor?
There's nothing wrong with Phil Spencer. He's done a fantastic job of turning around the Xbox One from the rocky launch.
Wooly_ said "If doesn't make business sense to drop so many potential heavy hitters in one year"
It doesn't make any business sense to spend millions of dollars making a game then get no return on your investment for a year.
Also, its not as though Sony has a shortage of games coming after them either. Pushing things back just causes a glut of AAA games further upstream. It makes more sense to release them in the first half of the year,...
Its like Mel Gibson movies. I can't watch Mel Gibson movies anymore, just like I can't support Konami games as much as I'd love a new Castlevania. They've ruined that for me. Jim Sterling had it right with his hashtag.

"it's pretty clear when you look at the list of exclusives on each platform which company invests the most in keeping games off competing platforms"
Amen, brother.
It's coming out on November 7th. A price drop during the launch window would be a disaster optically, so I wouldn't count on any massive cuts until next summer.
State of Decay 2 looked pretty cool.
But still, price is on the high side of the range for customer adoption, particularly four years into a console cycle. Were it a standalone console rather than needing to maintain compatibility with the Xbox One, $500 might seem like less of an ask.
I mean the game looked fantastic, but GOTY? Not by half. Still I'd like to see if they could get it right with a sequel.
Somehow I knew this was a Forbes article.
You have any idea how much time it takes to make a game on the scale of a GTA / RDR open world game?
Fell for it? Have you seen some of the racist nonsense that is de rigueur these days? I don't think we can fault people for "falling for" something that is indistinguishable from the hate filled tirades that are becoming more and more normalized in the current world.
At some point there ceases to be a meaningful distinction between satire and hate speech.
@Lightning Mr Bubbles: I think we both know why they chose that picture.
The real question is will Microsoft start releasing sales figures? Outlook not so good.
