I don't know about being "mainstream", but I wouldn't say that at all. The plot of VII was a mess compared to FFX. FFVII was great mechanically, but from a story perspective it was disjointed.
On the other hand, while Final Fantasy X is a *good* game, and probably high on the list of the series, I certainly wouldn't call it the best game ever.
Your mileage may vary, but this is probably down to individual tastes.
I think you need to go back and play a 360 launch game, and recalibrate your baseline.
It is entirely possible to go through the first section of the game without killing anyone. And the Director's Cut version of DXHR redesigns all of the boss encounters, and also makes it possible to stealth through all of the boss battles as well.
The "Push the button" endings were just dumb in general, but by that point most of the story was resolved anyhow.

@lastking95: Buddy, you need to look at your facts before you start calling people delusional. Halo 5 isn't even doing as well as ODST did, not even in its first week where it sold 1.5 million copies. Meanwhile Uncharted 4 did 2.7 million in its first week, and now two months later its still #2 on the chart behind Overwatch.
All of this is irrelevant. RDR is a great game that should be played by all, no matter how you do it.
@PockyKing: Just because someone blogs for a living, doesn't make them professional bloggers. Still, you saw a lot of very positive reactions from mainstream gaming media, so that reaction seems to be pretty natural (and certainly not "forced", whatever that means. Its not like they hired people to stand in the back of the room and clap for them).
